REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS CONTENTS Advertisement Preliminary Schedule Attachments: Selected information from Design Blitz Study dated 8/20/15 Format Requirements of the Submittal Required Response Items Statement of Qualifications Form Consultant Experience Form ADVERTISEMENT ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE OF L & S PHASE 1 ADVISING RELOCATION PROJECT NUMBER 12660A UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY CAMPUS The Berkeley campus of the University of California requests that architects submit written statements of th qualifications by Monday, November 9 , 2015 at 12:00 PM (noon) for providing architectural services for the following project: Description of Work The project will remodel two classrooms (1550 sf) in Dwinelle Hall to create an Advising office for Undergraduates in the College of Letters and Science. The renovated space, identified as ‘Phase I’ in attached documents, will include reception, intake and administrative areas, shared workspace and private offices. Work includes removal of interior walls, equipment and finishes, creating new openings in existing interior walls, and providing new partition walls, finishes, casework and furnishings. Existing utilities will be reconfigured and supplemented as required for the new configuration. The work will need to be carefully planned to accommodate the surrounding ongoing classroom use. Additional advising staff may be relocated to Dwinelle in the future, as shown in attachments identified as ‘Phase 3’. Scope of Services Preliminary Schematic Design was completed by Design Blitz during an earlier study phase and the general scope of work has been established with an estimated construction cost of $600k. Based on the established programmatic requirements, the selected architect will finalize the design, confirm the budget, prepare Construction Documents and provide complete Construction Administration services. The architect will be responsible for determining all required code upgrades and engaging and coordinating all sub-consultants, including but not limited to accessibility, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems and furnishings. This project will be Design Bid Build. Qualification Content Demonstrated design and CA experience on projects of similar scale and value is required. The project requires acoustical controls and the configuration of space for simultaneous use by individuals and groups engaged in different activities. The architect should be knowledgeable and have a proven track record of creating successful academic and collaboration spaces for college level environments in fully occupied buildings. The selected design firm will have experience in providing complete and coordinated construction documents for Public Bidding. In keeping with UCB’s commitment to sustainability, new construction needs to adhere to sustainable design and construction practices and a demonstrated ability to achieve this on small remodeling projects is required. Qualification statements should be a single PDF file of no more than seven (7) pages (excludes attached Statement of Qualifications and Consultant Experience Form) – outlining specific, comparable project experience, including the scope, size and value of that work, with client contact information, for no more than four (4) projects. Qualification statements should identify key staff that will be committed to the project on a day-to-day basis, include the firm’s fee schedule, and, confirm the firm’s capability to start immediately and meet the proposed schedule. Qualification Statements are due no later than 12:00 PM (noon) on Monday November 9 , 2015. Selection Process Design work will commence once the selection process is completed and the architectural firm is under contract. Selection of an Architect is anticipated to complete within two weeks of RFQ Submittals.

The University will review all Qualification Statements and determine the three most qualified Consultants. After review, firms may be asked to provide more detailed information or may be invited for an interview at the University’s option.

Selection will be based on past, applicable experience submitted, the staff proposed, and the confirmation of the Consultant’s ability to adhere to the Schedule.
