Criterion-referenced first then academic ranking by merit



Norm of 8 subjects



Every boy gets a chance to offer at least 7 subjects:    

English Language + Mother Tongue 2 Sciences 2 Mathematics 1 Humanities (Combined Humanities)

Promotion to Sec 3 (O)

 Criteria for Promotion to Sec 3 (O-Level):  Pass English Language and at least 3 other subjects and  At least 50% in the average overall performance of all examinable 3 academic subjects

Lessons are in the afternoon – usually after 3:30 p.m.

Summary 

Subject Combinations 





By looking at a student‟s academic scores, the Sec 3 subject combinations will be determined such that it takes into consideration the student‟s academic strengths. Capitalising on the student‟s academic strengths will put him at a more strategic advantage to do well and have more options after Sec 4.

Merit Subject to the number of places and resources available Overall academic performance in L1S4 Subject score for relevant subjects 17

IMPORTANT to note  Subject combinations are offered based strictly on merit on overall results of L1S4 subjects Posting of students – merit & subject to places and resources available  Minimum of 20 students – for an elective Humanities subject to be offered in a class in SJI (Not applicable to Art or Music) 3rd Language / MSP & CSP – offered at designated centres  Art / Music are offered in the afternoon 18

On-line option exercise opens on 19th October & closes at 12:00 noon on 22nd October, 2015



Printed copy of confirmed option, must be signed by parent/guardian and submitted to School Office (Student Services Section) by 12:00 noon on 26th October, 2015.



Results of Subject Combination for Sec 3 will be released on 18th Nov, 2015 via e-mail. SMS alert will be sent.

You may change your selected options by clicking the “Reset / Choose again” button. Click the confirm and submit button when you have checked that your options are correct.

After you have submitted, the confirmation page will show your ranked options of 4 subject combinations.

• You may change your selected options by clicking the “Reset / Choose again” button. • When you have finalized and confirmed your options, print the option form by clicking “Print”. This form is a pdf option form. Your guardian‟s / parent‟s signature is required on this printed option form.
