SLOVAK ELECTION DATA PROJECT The Slovak Election Data Project makes election data from the Slovak Republic available to academic researchers, students, policy-makers and the general public. The data sets are constructed from publicly available information published by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (Štatistický úrad Slovenskej republiky). They are provided in a number of standard computer-readable formats, and – as such – are more convenient for use in research and analysis than the .xls files provided by the Statistical Office. The project is managed by Marek Hlavac, currently a doctoral candidate in the Political Economy and Government program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He can be reached by e-mail at
[email protected].
Disclaimer: The Slovak Election Data Project is not affiliated with any government, academic or research institution. All data sets and programs are provided without any warranty - without even the warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall the manager of the Slovak Election Data Project be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages of any type or nature resulting from the use of any of the provided data sets or programs.
DATA SET CONTENT AND USE The comprehensive data set contains the results of the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2012 parliamentary elections in the Slovak Republic. The data set was constructed by appending observations from four separate data sets (one for each parliamentary election), all of which are public and freely available from the Slovak Election Data Project website: slovakia_parl_election_2002 slovakia_parl_election_2006 slovakia_parl_election_2010 slovakia_parl_election_2012 Observations from individual data sets can be identified based on the value of the year variable. Please feel free to use our data set in your research. If you are using this comprehensive data set, we ask you, however, to include the following citation in your paper or publication: Hlavac, Marek. 2012.
