Engineering strategies to overcome blindness and brain injury
The Honourable Roy McMurtry has had a varied and influential career in many aspects of public service, from politics to diplomacy to the judiciary. As a reformist attorney general of Ontario, one of the architects of The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Chief Justice of Ontario, he has made a large and enduring contribution to public life, which continues with his work on public inquiries.
Dr. Molly Shoichet is an award winning Canadian biomedical engineer known for her work in tissue engineering. She is the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Tissue Engineering and is a professor of chemical engineering and applied chemistry and biomedical engineering at the University of Toronto. She is an expert in the study of polymers for drug delivery and regeneration, which are materials that promote healing in the body.

Dr. Prhabat Jha is an epidemiologist and founding Director of the Centre for Global Health Research. He is also the Inaugural University of Toronto Endowed Professor in Disease Control, Canada Research Chair at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, co-investigator of the Disease Control Priorities Network and expert advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Chief Mark Saunders is in his 32nd year with The Toronto Police Service. He has had an extensive background within the portfolios of Professional Standards, Urban Street Gangs, Drug Squad, Intelligence Division, Community Safety Command, Specialized Operations Command, Emergency Task Force and he served as the Unit Commander of the largest homicide squad in Canada. He is currently Co-Chair of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police - Organized Crime Committee.

Toronto - Past, Present and Future
Dr. Carolyn Harris is an expert in the history of European monarchy and well deserves her sobriquet of ‘royal historian’. She is a teacher at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, a media commentator and popular lecturer on all things royal and the author of two related books, Magna Carta and its Gifts to Canada and Queenship and Revolution in Early Modern Europe.
The Honourable David Crombie served as mayor of Toronto from 1972-1978. In federal politics he held office from 1978-1988 and was Minister of Health and Welfare for a period of time. He has been consulted by city and provincial governments on many matters and has written numerous reports addressing planning, most recently a report entitled, Planning for Health, Prosperity and Growth in the Greater Golden Horseshoe: 2015-2041.
