Bohlen Technical Center 20104 NYS Route 3 Watertown, NY 13601 Ph. # 779-7200 Course Description: The primary purpose of the HVAC and Plumbing Course is to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits and desirable attitudes necessary to achieve competency in job entry-level skills, obtain New York State Licensure, and gainful employment in the field of HVAC and Plumbing or related career fields. Timeline: Length of course/program: 1 or 2 year program Half day program Major projects: 1st Year • Lab/shop projects, • On site and off site projects • Junior Portfolio nd 2 Year• Senior Portfolio, research paper and presentation • Install plumbing for an on-site project constructed by the Carpentry Class • Students will participate in work-based learning by completing a two week internship with area HVAC and plumbing businesses.
Grading/ Assessment/ Attendance Requirements: Knowledge 40% (Classroom activities and assignments, daily instruction, homework, tests) Work Ethic 30% (Includes daily attendance, which is required) Skills 30% (Skills are graded in a practical form during live work or projects)

Licensing and Certificates: Upon completion of the 2 year program students will be eligible for: • Technical Endorsement • BOCES certificate in HVAC and Plumbing; • EPA 608 Universal Refrigeration Certification • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Certification • HBI (Home Builders Institute) HVAC and Plumbing Certification • HVAC Excellence Certification (Gas Heat, Air Conditioning, Electrical) Articulation Agreements: • Jefferson Community College, 4 credits, Energy 135 (EDGE CREDIT) • Mohawk Valley Community College, 4 credits • University of Northwestern Ohio, 6 credits • SUNY Delhi, 2 credits • Lincoln Technical Institute, 2 courses (HV120 and HV200) Internships: In the spring of their senior year, students who meet specific criteria will have the opportunity to experience an internship in HVAC and Plumbing and/or in a field related industry. (Specific criteria- attendance, grades, ethics)

Course Objectives: To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to skills, trends, and methods for career development in HVAC and Plumbing related fields. Students will be able to: 1. 2. 3.
