Final Proposal Brief

The Cheatham Elementary School campus in Clarksville, Texas is the home of the town’s Head Start program. Head Start is a national comprehensive early childhood education and holistic development program. The Head Start teachers in Clarksville intend to improve the performance of their students on the SRG (School Readiness Goals) in the domains of Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. These domains have been determined as areas in need of improvement by the 2014-2015 data analysis. The availability of eno brand interactive whiteboards and Easiteach software would create opportunities to instruct students in ways that would give hands on opportunities to master specific goals accordingly. The improvement of performance in these domains is essential, since the mastery of the SRG produce a wide range of research proven life-long benefits. The goal of the proposal is to equip classrooms with eno boards and Easiteach software that will give students opportunities to practice skills with the technology. With these new opportunities, boosts in performance in the domain areas of the SRG that have been shown as “in need of improvement” will occur. The students will benefit from this technology, because they will be given instruction in whole group, small group, and individual learning scenarios in a variety of engaging ways. Improvements in performance on the SRG are estimated to be seen in the End of Year data analysis, after having the entire school year to use the technology. The funds from this grant will provide the four classrooms with eno brand interactive whiteboards and Dell XPS laptops running the Windows 10 operating system, which will support the Easiteach software. With this software and hardware, the teachers will be able to collaborate and design effective teaching strategies that meet specific learning objectives. This project deserves to be funded, because Head Start is a program that is dedicated to providing comprehensive early childhood education services to low-income children. Opportunities with the technology will aid these students’ transition from Head Start to elementary school. The availability of this technology for these economically disadvantaged young learners will serve as a starting point that will produce benefits for their entire educational career.
