a year. The new limit is subject to compliance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB) was included in the second schedule of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Act, 1934. The inclusion of the BMB in the second schedule was announced by RBI in a notification issued in Mumbai on 21 May 2014. With the inclusion of BMB, total number of scheduled commercial banks in India now stands at 90. As on 2 May 2014, there were 89 Scheduled commercial banks in India. The inclusion of BMB in the second schedule of the RBI Act, 193 means that now it will be eligible for loans from RBI on bank rate and also acquired membership of clearing houses. India will become the world’s third largest oil consumer by 2025 according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) released its annual Energy Outlook on 7 May 2014. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued the guidelines to allow the minors of age above 10 years to independently open and operate savings bank accounts and use other facilities like ATM and cheque books. Till now, banks allowed minors to operate bank accounts only along with a parent or a guardian. All children and teenagers below the age of 18 are considered minors under current rules. RBI took this initiative to promote the objective of financial inclusion and also to bring uniformity among banks in opening and operating minors’ accounts. About guidelines:
All minors can now open a savings/ fixed/ recurring bank deposit account through either his/her natural guardian or legally appointed guardian. Banks may keeping in view their risk management systems, fix limits in terms of age and amount up to which minors may be allowed to operate the deposit accounts independently. The banks can also decide on the minimum documents which are required for opening of accounts by minors. Banks are free to offer additional banking facilities like Internet banking, ATM/debit card, cheque book facility, etc, subject to the safeguards that minor accounts are not allowed to be overdrawn and that these always remain in credit. India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves rose by $499.8 million to $309.91 billion for the week ended April 25, led by a sharp jump in overseas currency assets, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed. RBI panel for diluting government stake in public sector banks to below 50% (A) The government should cut its holding in public sector banks to under 50%, a RBI panel report said, Criticising the way in which the leaders are now being governed.
