The Witness—Part 2
April 19/20, 2014 Easter
GREEK WORDS Ōdinas—agony; literally “birth pangs”
FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) Like the pain of a woman in labor, the pain of death for Jesus was temporary. It resulted in something glorious…the resurrection. 2) There would be no Christianity if there were no resurrection. 3) Many accept Jesus’ death on the cross, but never really understand why His death and resurrection are so important. 4) 3 forms of Witnesses: Silent witness—Evidence Unwilling witness—See the evidence, but deny it Willing witness—Follower of Jesus Christ 5) The angel reminded the women that the resurrection should not have surprised them (Matthew 28:6). 6) The same power that raised Jesus is the same power that has the capacity to forgive you. The same power that raised Him will raise you one day…if you believe. 7) The stone was taken away and the empty linens were there for God to give evidence of His great love for you! 8) The greatest proof that Jesus is the Messiah is not His miracles or His death… it is His resurrection. 9) The resurrection is proof of God’s acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice. Truth #1: He lived Truth #2: How He lived Truth #3: He died Truth #4: He lives again 10) You are a living witness that Jesus possesses all power in heaven and in earth, and that power is evidenced in your transformed life.
