Discuss the importance of rapid recognition, assessment and management of a stroke patient in the emergency department. Describe the common mechanisms of injury in both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injured patients. Identify those neurological patients at a greater risk for seizures and discuss management in the acute care setting during a seizure. Select appropriate rehabilitation care of patients with motor, sensory and language deficits from a neurological disorder. Discuss the more common neurological disorders seen in the pediatric population and identify findings on neurological assessment. Differentiate the characteristics of the neuromuscular and autoimmune neurological disorders. Discuss the traits of the new neurological encephalopathies called the prion disorders.

The CNRN Review Course is designed to provide the neuroscience nurse with the information needed to pass the CNRN examination. The information follows the blueprint provided by the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing organization. The review course follows patients from the emergency room to rehabilitation. It includes disorders which affect pediatrics, adults and elderly patients.

received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas in Arlington in 1985 and her Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from Texas Woman’s University in 1993. Her work experience includes critical care education for surgical/trauma, neurosurgical and thoracic surgery, management positions, and Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist. She currently presents seminars throughout the country and is Director of the Marcus Neuroinstitute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Kendra is certified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor. She has an extensive and comprehensive knowledge base and is known for her ability to simplify the complex and maintain audience attention.
