CITY HIGH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Stand Up For City High Today, our historic and beloved Bates Field is showing its age. Named in 1969 for legendary City High football coach Frank Bates, who led the Little Hawks from 1947-1965, the sports complex facilities are in serious need of improvements that will enhance the fan experience and add to the safety and enjoyment of all City High event attendees. Fortunately, the most urgent of these updates is well under way: Thanks to generous funding from the Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD), new bleachers have been installed and finished for the 2010 season. In addition, the new building first floor will be the concession stand and the second level will be a multipurpose room. The original building first floor will be the new men’s and women’s restrooms. The campaign has been extremely successful and we are still raising funds to complete the project to signifcantly upgrade adjacent Bates Field facilities in ways that will be appreciated by future generations of City High students, alumni, families, and friends. Your contribution will help make this facility the best it can be.
