Twenty MPS students won MSAA awards MINNEAPOLIS – Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) awarded twenty Minneapolis Public Schools students with Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards. An MCAD jury chose the winning artwork from 1279 individual submissions and 168 portfolio entries. The Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards is a statewide competition that recognizes originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal vision in artwork from students across the state in grades seven through twelve. Winning students are Melissa Arntzen, Katie Collis, Tiffany Edholm, Alexandra Galassie, Montoy Lor, Kevin Martin, Robert Oberfrank and Erin Welch of North High; Paul Hogan, Nina Keim, Tomas Ray and Sinjun Strom of South High; and Madeline Adams-Hanson, Loddy Assad, Lydia Bickal, Susan Kofuji, Mariah Kurtz, Reed Monson, Mackenzie Neaton and Evan Sowder of Southwest High. The 2010-2011 Minnesota Scholastic Art Exhibition is open to the public daily from January 21 to February 13 in MCAD’s Concourse Gallery.
