BRAND APPLICATIONS
As an NHL team returning to Winnipeg for the first time in 15 years, we wanted our design to pay homage to a traditional hockey town by creating a mark that combined elements of the past with an exciting vision of the future. The primary logo juxtaposes both dynamic, modern depictions of fighter jets with a stylised Canadian maple leaf. The jets themselves are spread to create the hint of a ‘W’. These are encircled by the club name, the date the team were founded and the date they returned home. Whilst the primary logo brings the Jets into the 21st century, the secondary marks pay homage to the designs of old. Using strong circular shapes and fluid negative space, the Jets second mark is reminiscent of a number of past Winnipeg designs.
