Who are we?

WorldWise Global Schools (WWGS) is an Irish Aid programme for development education in Irish post-primary schools. WWGS builds the capacity of schools (and especially teachers) to engage with development education and to empower students to fulfill their role as active global citizens. WWGS support consists of: • Grant Funding • Teacher Training • Annual Conference • Global Passport School Award • Tailored support and materials

An active, skills-based approach to education A direct response to global poverty and injustice A way to work in solidarity with people from different parts of the world An empowering experience for both students and teachers Already part of teaching and learning in many Irish schools

Grant Call 2016

Application opens: 1st March 2016 Deadline for applications: 8th April 2016 Successful applicants will be supported to integrate development education into curricular and extracurricular activities as well as school life, ethos, management and policy. Examples of activities that may be funded include: • Teachers’ planning and learning time for development education • Student-focused activities and engagement (such as debates, seminars, exhibitions and action research projects) • Peer learning initiatives that encourage a critical approach to teaching and learning. • Whole-school activities and events to raise awareness of development education and share learning

Global Passport School Award

The Global Passport is a development education school award, open to all post-primary schools in Ireland. It recognises and validates development education work taking place across all aspects of the school community. The deadline for applications for this award is 28th February 2016.
