Mount Vernon Board of Education Minutes July 13, 2015 A regular monthly meeting of the Mount Vernon Board of Education was held in the high school media center on July 13, 2015. Those present were Darrin Gage, Virginia Roudabush, Sherry Grunder, Tom Wieseler, Shannon Amundson, Dr. Gary O’Malley and Matt Burke. Absent were Mark Weldon and Lori Merlak. Secretary Burke opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Moved by Gage seconded by Wieseler that the Board appoint Sherry Grunder as the President for the meeting. Carried unanimously. Moved by Roudabush seconded by Amundson that the Board approve the agenda. Carried unanimously. Dr. O’Malley congratulated Kathy Staskal for winning the National School Public Relations Association 2015 Golden Achievement Award. He also updated the Board on the progress of adding a sidewalk west of the high school building and provided the 2015-2016 Grant Wood Area Education Agency service plan. The Board reviewed possible changes to the high school graduation requirements. In public comment each citizen is limited to three minutes per discussion item. Dr. O’Malley provided a list of administrative goals and a list of recent improvements. Moved by Roudabush seconded by Wieseler that the Board approve the second reading of School Board policies series 1000. Carried unanimously. Moved by Amundson seconded by Gage that the Board approve the 2015-2016 operational sharing agreements with Lisbon Schools. Carried unanimously. Dr. O’Malley provided the Board with the cost to replace the middle school building lockers for Board consideration at a later date. Moved by Amundson seconded by Wieseler that the Board approve the 2015-2016 contracts for Katelyn Murray as high school girls soccer coach, Matt Haddy as an assistant high school boys basketball coach, Ben Knake as an assistant high school boys basketball coach, Travis Jacobs as the high school fall play tech director and the high school spring musical tech director, Tom Donaldson as a bus route driver, Andrew Shea as a middle school social studies teacher, and Toni Stanbro Wiesenhofer as a special education associate. Carried unanimously. Moved by Gage seconded by Amundson that the Board approve the consent agenda. The consent agenda included the minutes of June 8, 2015, the July bills, the June financial reports,

open enrollment requests, the resignations of Maura Arnold as an associate, Katelyn Murray as the assistant boys soccer coach, Duane Orr as a teacher, Ed Roalf as an assistant high school basketball coach, and Bob Sippel as a custodian, the 2015-2016 Grant Wood Area Education Agency substitute system and mentoring agreements, the 2015-2016 product bids, and a $27,775.00 high school computer lease with VAR Resources.
