I have been married to Frank since 1963. During the 51 years, I have only been exposed to overt racial prejudice three times. The first was in London, in 1970, when we exited the wrong subway station and ended up in the dangerous parts of London. Three boys flicking their pocketknives made remarks that I should not have married a man of another race. The second incident was in 1972 Hong Kong, where a man yelled at me because of the inter-racial baby I was holding. However, I have never been called a "white trash," until your floor supervisor Art referred to me as such. I am appalled (especially on account of the Sterling incident) that Art was not told to apologize and sent off the floor. Instead, his shift manager Robin backed him up with security guards, falsely accusing my husband of having physically attacked Art for his racist slurs. This incident reminds me of what happened during my visit to your casino last March. The table was full, and we were all having a good time. Out of nowhere, a woman shoved in front of me a form for me to sign as I was about to put my bet on the table. I asked what the form was. She said they had noticed that I changed chips given me by my husband. I signed the form but, as I was not completely sure what I had signed, I asked her what would have happened had I not signed. She informed me that she would have called the security guards to "have you thrown out." The woman in question had medium-dark blond hair. She was of medium built, in her early 40's. As she left, I and other players were stunned. Was it common practice for the casino management to use the heavy-handed, physically degrading treatment of security guards, which I would have been given had I declined to sign the form, or was I a special target for that treatment for whatever unspeakable, distorted purpose that advantages your management ranks? Having now been called white trash, I remain to be puzzled by that question. What advantages can possibly profit French Lick Casino and its management by Art's racism, enforced by your security guards? I can tell you that we have a significant difference of opinion as to Mr. Feldman's letter. Mr. Feldman was merely repeating what you told him. He did not admit that anyone from the resort ever said it and in fact Mr. Feldman stated that "Robin, in no way, either implied or voiced" what you alleged she said. You mentioned in our meeting that you had an audio tape of the alleged statement. I requested it but you did not produce it. I reiterate my request for you to produce a copy of the tape. Further, I agreed to meet with you at your instance on the assumption that you would provide additional information regarding the events at the casino in May 2014. In no way did I collaborate anything concerning events occurring prior to May 2014 or matters not related to the resort. To suggest otherwise is a blatant misrepresentation of our conversation. Finally, as it relates to the Indiana Gaming Commission, I explained to you that anytime a customer has a complaint regarding the casino, we have to advise them that they can also discuss the matter with the gaming commission. Neither I nor Ms. Allen ever offered to submit the items alleged in your letters and emails to the gaming commission except to the extent that they concerned the matters in the casino in May 2014. Dr. Fong, we have investigated the incidents occurring at the casino and have taken appropriate actions. We do not believe that any additional actions are necessary. I am pleased that we are in full agreement as to the 8/29/14 post on Google+. To dispel a suggestion of any “misrepresentation,” I further concur with the main points of your letter: 1. Mr. Feldman did write something, like, “Robin, in no way, either implied or voiced” the racist attacks he quoted verbatim, for which floor-supervisor Art was disciplined. 2. “Neither I nor Ms. Allen ever offered to submit items to the gaming commission except to the extent that they concerned the matters in the casino in May 2014.” As for Point 1, your sentence consists of a (minor) typo; “what [you] alleged she said” should, of course, read, “what [you] alleged he (i.e., Art) said.” (Was that the source for the “blatant misrepresentation”?) Because we all are in agreement as to Point 2, you have our consent to submit this letter and the Feldman-Marsh thread to the IGC.
