NEW COMPETITION TIME SCHEDULE Because of the Congress decision to introduce Women C1 and Women Junior C1 in the championships program, but also based on the passed years experience the competition time schedule had to be updated. An important consideration for composing the new program was the number of dates to be used. The Congress had allowed us to use up to 4 days because of the extended number of classes, but the financial aspect for teams and organisers made the decision to be in favour of staying with 3 days. This means that we still have a rather close programme, but we will see which kind of problems that may occur in 2015 and then reconsider if necessary. EXPECTED TIP TRAINING CAMP AT 2015 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS The ICF Canoe Marathon Committee is expecting to be able to arrange a training camp at the 2015 World Championships in Györ, Hungary under the Talent Identification Programme (TIP) of the ICF Development Programme. We expect soon to be able to publish more information about this.

THE 2015 WORLD RANKING One of the initiatives to increase the importance and hopefully interest for the Classic series was to count results into the World Ranking. CALL FOR ICF MARATHON TIMEKEEPING ITOs The ICF Canoe Marathon Committee is interested in developing existing and new ITOs with specific skills related to entries and time keeping using purpose made computer systems as well as the setting up and use of the “Time Track” system which has been developed for tracking the progress and lap positions of paddlers in ICF World Cups, World Championships and Continental Championships. With this in mind it is planned to hold a training course at the European Marathon Championships or World Marathon Championships in 2015. Any existing ITOs or potential new ITOs with a suitable IT background/knowledge and an interest in getting involved as part of a panel of ITOs that could fulfil this role at international events should please make contact with the ICF Canoe Marathon Chairman Jorn Cronberg by email at the address: [email protected]

PARA CANOEING IN CANOE MARATHON A proposal for introducing Para Canoeing in the 2015 World Championships has not been approved by the ICF Board. The decision was based on the fact that Para Canoeing competitions involves classification of paddlers for categories and that ICF does not have the capacity to do so for Canoe Marathon presently because all capacity is being used for preparing for the Para Olympic Games 2016. _____________________________________________________________________________ ICF CANOE MARATHON – NEWSLETTER 2015-1 – March 2015

A compromise has been achieved whereby the 2015 World Championships organiser in Györ is allowed to invite for open Para Canoe races prior to the Championships.
