The new year gets off to a good start with the customary appointment in Cologne. A week of events focused on international design and its most innovative ideas. The city comes to life in a cosmopolitan atmosphere and design is omnipresent in its multifarious expressions. From Design Posts to showrooms, every location offers an opportunity to make the acquaintance of furnishing brands. As the hub that unquestionably epitomizes this spirit, the imm Cologne trade fair brings together the widest range of home furnishing trends at the Koelnmesse every year. This year’s edition, running from 19 to 25 January, expects to welcome over 150,000 visitors, also thanks to another event being held at the same time, the Living Kitchen biennial dedicated to kitchens and avant-garde technology applied to products, manufacturing, design and logistics. There are many new entries compared to 2011, half of which come from abroad. Running alongside the exhibition itself, lively cooking shows reawaken a passion for home-made food. «By holding LivingKitchen at the same time as imm Cologne our message is clear - Koelnmesse GmbH Chairman Gerald Böse points out - it is our intention to promote a dialogue between kitchen design and the other domestic interiors because the kitchen and living spaces are no longer delimited by well-defined boundaries as demonstrated by this trade fair combo».
