Dear Community Partner: STAR will be hosting our 3rd Annual Champions of Change Breakfast fundraiser and awareness event. This year we are excited to recognize this year’s Champion of Change Honoree, East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar C. Moore, III. With his vision and forethought, STAR was able to become a stand alone agency focusing on sexual assault survivors not only in East Baton Rouge Parish but also across the state. Through his support in this transition over the past 5 years, STAR has been able to provide services to over 10,000 clients and community members. Please join STAR, on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Renaissance Hotel to raise awareness for STAR and celebrate and honor Mr. Moore's remarkable and enduring passion for social change in support of crime victims. We need your support to make this a memorable event for Mr. Moore and our community. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit STAR and the survivors we serve. STAR is the only sexual assault center within the 7 surrounding parishes serving victims of sexual assault. Thousands of women, men and children in the Capital Region are affected each year by sexual violence. As a community, we allow this to continue, when we remain silent. To prevent sexual violence, the voices of survivors, advocates and community leaders need to be heard.
