THREE STRIKES RULE Dear Parent, Your child’s time at camp will be a fun filled, memorable learning experience. Making new friends, while having fun in the outdoors, is a central goal of Camp COLEY. It is our goal as a staff that each camper has a chance to enjoy this opportunity. One factor, which may create difficulty for campers to fully enjoy their camping experience, is poor discipline. Our hope is to address this concern ahead of time to avoid any difficulties. As a camp staff, we want every camper to have a positive experience. Therefore, we would like to outline our discipline policy for you to review with your child. Should an infraction occur, we act on a “three-strikes” rule. The first strike involves a Camp COLEY Leader and / or Staff explaining the broken rule and why it is important for that rule to be followed. The second strike involves the Camp Director and the camper discussing the rule infraction. Should inappropriate behavior continue, the third strike is notification of the camper’s parents. If this situation should occur the Camp Director and camper’s parents will work together to decide on the next step. This step may be another chance or immediate dismissal from camp. Any further actions necessary at that time will also be discussed between the Camp Director and parent. Should your child be sent home, Camp COLEY will not refund any remaining fees for the week. Although few cases ever reach the third strike it is important to have this policy in place to ensure a fun and safe experience for all. All discipline actions are presented in a positive manner and are aimed at helping make Camp COLEY a most positive camping experience. Thank you for your cooperation and we know with parents and camp staff working together – we will have a great week at camp!
We have read and discussed the Camp COLEY “THREE STRIKES RULE” and agree to abide by it. Print: ______________________________________ (Parent or Guardian)
