Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Introduction Established in 1992, Hamdard Institute of Education and Social Sciences (HIESS) has the privilege to be the first constituent Institute of the University. The priority given to this Institute was a clear manifestation of both Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said’s realization of the importance of teacher education in the development of future generations. The basic statement, which later became the motto of the Institute, was “the production of the unconventional, capable, dynamic, creative, democratic and innovative teacher” HIESS has established itself as an reputed organization, producing research scholars in the various fields of social sciences and education. Students from all over the country find expressions in our various programs of studies, which have all the characteristics to be called “unique” due to their extraordinary emphasis on character building, original reflection and creativity. The classes at HIESS present a curious combination of students, differing widely in their age group, social class, linguistic affiliation, religious background etc., but getting the same opportunities and rights. HIESS is categorically producing a group of professional whose effect on the society will start becoming visible in due course of time.

Library Bait al Hikmah Library At Hamdard University, the systems applied in the organization of libraries make access to information quick and simple. Supplied with the latest books, periodicals, magazines and journals, the departmental / seminar libraries at different institutes and faculties provide the students with a comprehensive collection of books in the particular areas of studies. The Bait al-Hikmah Library is a grand collection of over 450,000 books, including valuable manuscripts, collected by the Founder Chancellor from all over the world. The Library, housed in an imposing edifice at the Main Campus, extends over an area of 2000 sq. yards and is amongst the biggest libraries of Pakistan. Renowned research scholars are accommodated at the well furnished Scholar’s House. 
