What is Adobe Connect? Adobe Connect is web conferencing software that your e-‐learning teacher will use to hold live lessons and tutorials. Through video, audio, screen share, polls and chats you’ll learn and interact with your teacher and classmates. Adobe Connect is sort of like Skype with a whiteboard. Participating in live Adobe Connect sessions will help you succeed in your course. If you aren’t able to attend a particular session, you can watch a recording. Your teacher will provide links to all the Adobe Connect session recordings.
Session Information Where: your teacher will post a link to your Adobe Connect meeting room with the format http://connect.tdsb.on.ca/yourcoursecode When: your teacher will post the dates and times for Adobe Connect lessons or drop in tutorials Look for an Adobe Connect widget on your Course Home page to find important session information. See the example on the left.
Getting Ready
• Install the latest version of your internet browser: all browsers work, but Firefox is the most stable • Find a quiet place: so you can hear what’s going on in the session • Grab a headset with a mic: using headphones prevents the feedback that can sometimes come from external speakers. A microphone lets you speak with your teacher and classmates. • Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or higher: download at http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html • Ensure a reliable internet connection: tell everyone to stop streaming movies!
Logging In • Click on the Adobe Connect link your teacher provides • The Meeting Login Page will open (see example at right) • Click the Enter as a Guest button • Type in your actual name • Click the Enter Room button
Having problems? Click the tiny Help button at the bottom of the screen to put your computer through a connection test.
