CITY OF OJAI HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION AGENDA Regular Meeting Thursday, January 12, 2017 The regular meeting of the Ojai Historic Preservation Commission will be called to order by the Chair on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the Ojai City Hall Council Chambers, 401 South Ventura Street, Ojai, California. While Historic Preservation Commission is in session all in attendance are expected to maintain order and decorum and to obey the orders of the Chair. Roll Call Pledge of Allegiance Public Communications Members of the public wishing to address the Historic Preservation Commission on items appearing on the agenda are requested to complete a “speaker’s card” and file it with the Secretary prior to the start of the Historic Preservation Commission meeting. Cards are available in the Council Chambers Lobby. All comments should be limited to three minutes, unless additional time is granted by the Chair. Speakers should state their name and address for the record and must direct their comments to the Chair, not the audience or press. While the Historic Preservation Commission is in session, members of the Commission, City staff, and members of the audience are expected to maintain order and decorum and to obey the orders of the Chair1. Public Hearing Item 2. Work Permit (WP-16-04), applicant proposes the installation of two (2) new gates, repaint the sign on the stucco exterior face of the espadana, immediately above the crown of the entrance arch, and planting of 2 new trees and lavender at 130 W. Ojai Avenue, Historic Landmark No. 7, St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, aka the Ojai Valley Museum (Assessor’s Parcel Number: 021-0-106-080). The General Plan designation of the site is Public Quasi Public (P) and the Zoning classification of the site is Public Quasi Public (P-L). A Categorical Exemption has been prepared pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act. Property Owner: City of Ojai. Representative: Wendy Barker, Ojai Valley Museum. Recommendation: Adopt HPC Resolution approving Work Permit (WP 16-04) based on the findings that the proposed work is consistent with the Landmark City Council Resolution 93-30. Discussion Item 3. Review and Discussion of Term Sheet for Proposed Amendments to Historic Preservation Ordinance Recommendation: Discuss the proposed amendments and issues as identified by City Council and make recommendations to the term sheets to be presented at the special joint meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission and City Council. February meeting- Review proposed landmark designation of the Smith Hobson House Planning Report Receive a verbal report from staff on current planning activities that potentially involve historic preservation.
