Hello Preschool Parents,
It is finally Spring! We are excited to see warmer temps. The next few months have many things planned. Be sure to dress your child according to the weather as we will be going out for recess if the temperature is above 32 degrees and not raining. The Sunbeams 4/5 class will be working on reviewing letters and the numbers 15, 16, 17, 18. We will also be working on beginning sight words such as like, the, see, and, go. We will also be working on ending sounds in words and rhyming words to help with the beginning reading skills. Watch for easy reader books to begin coming home for the children to read to you. Kindergarten registration begins in April in area schools, so please contact your school to determine when registration falls. Some skills they will need to know for the kindergarten assessment include writing first and last name, recognizing letters upper and lowercase, able to write letters, recognizing colors, shapes, and knowing their birthday, phone number, and address. These are some things that you can help your child know at school. We continue to work on these skills at school; however, parents need to help us build these skills by working with your child at home. There was a Seymour Kindergarten Registration form sent home last month. Also the 4/5 class will be going on a spring field trip to the Kid’s Commons on Friday, May 5. The cost for this trip is $5.00. We will return to school at 11:30. We will also be going to Cortland Elementary School to visit a Kindergarten class on F riday, April 28. We will leave the school at 9:15. Parents are welcome to take your child after the visit. We will be needing parent drivers to help haul children to the school and back. Permission slips will be sent home in April. We have begun practicing for our Preschool Closing Program/Graduation set for May 10 at 7:00pm. ALL classes will be participating in the closing program. We ask that you continue practicing their parts that were sent home last month.
