Santa Claus Pompom Hat Crochet Pattern
Stitch Tutorial: Half Double Crochet {Half Treble Crochet} Yarn over, and insert your hook into the next stitch. Yarn over, and pull back through that stitch (3 loops on hook). Yarn over, and pull through all the loops on your hook.
Hat: Rnd 1- Taking your yarn (claret), ch2 using 2 strands of yarn at once, 8 hdc {htr} in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st in first hdc {htr}. (8 sts) (You're going to continue crocheting this pattern using 2 strands of yarn)

Size: Newborn, 0 - 3 Months Old (Head Circumference 13.5", 34cm. Hat Height 5.5", 14cm) 3 - 6 Months Old (Head Circumference 14.5", 37cm. Hat Height 6", 15cm) 9 - 12 Months Old (Head Circumference 15.5", 39cm. Hat Height 6.25", 16cm)

Gauge: 4 rows x 4 stitches in hdc = 3 inch
Materials:
Rnd 2- Ch1, 2 hdc {htr} in every st, all around. Join with sl st in first hdc {htr}. (16 sts) Rnd 3- (Skip this round if you're crocheting the newborn size.) Ch1, 2 hdc {htr} in the 1st st. *1 hdc {htr} in next 3 [1] sts. 2 hdc {htr} in the next st. Repeat from the * all around. Join with sl st in first hdc {htr}. (20 [24] sts)

Stitches Used: st(s) - stitch(es) ch - chain stitch sc - single crochet hdc – half double crochet sl st – slip stitch
Crochet Terms: This pattern uses US crochet terms, with UK terms in { }.
Rnd 4 – 8- Ch1, 1 hdc {htr} in every st all around. Join with sl st in first hdc {htr}. (56 sts) ( Skip 3 rnds if crocheting the newborn size, and skip 2 rnds if
crocheting the 3 - 6 month size.)
Rnd 9- Change yarn colour (white). Ch1, 1 hdc {htr} in every st all around. Join with sl st in first hdc {htr}. Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Pompoms: Make 2 pompoms using white yarn (Make sure each pompom measures 3" in size). Taking a needle, attach 1 pompom to each top corner of the hat, making sure to space them out evenly. Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
