Special Stitches

Camel Single Crochet (camel sc) Insert hook into next stitch (not through the front OR back loop, but instead an extra loop that is behind the sc stitch). Yarn over, pull back through stitch (2 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull through all 2 loops on your hook.

Spike Stitch (sp) Insert hook below the sc from 1 row below. Yarn over, pull back through that stitch (2 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull through all 2 loops on your hook.

Top Of Shoe: Rnd 1- Attach yarn (Light Taupe) right in the middle of the sole/heel, crocheting from the outside of the bootie. Ch1, 1 sc in the same st, but only through the back loop. (Continue crocheting the sts in this rnd only in the back loop) 1 sc in next 55 [ 59] sts. Do not sl st in 1st sc of this rnd. (56 [60] sts)

Rnd 2- Start crocheting in 1st st from the previous rnd. 1 camel sc in every st all around. Do not sl st in 1st sc of this rnd. Rnd 3- Change yarn colour to “Toasted”. Start crocheting in 1st st from the previous rnd. 1 sc in every st all around, but only in the back loop. Do not sl st in 1st sc of this rnd. (43 [49] sts) Row 2 – 3- Ch1, 1 sc in the same st. 1 sc in the next 42 [48] sts. Turn your work. Row 4- Ch1, 1 sc in the same st. 1 sc in the next 38 [44] sts. Button Cuff Border: Right Bootie Attach yarn (Light Taupe) to the top corner of the right bootie (not side with strap). Ch1, 1 sc in same st. *1 spike st in next st, 1 sc in next st. Repeat from the * 21 [24] times. When you reach the corner, ch1, 1 sc in same st. Along the edge of the strap crochet 6 sc. (50 [56] sts) Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Left Bootie Attach yarn (Light Taupe) to the top right-hand corner of the strap. Along the edge of the strap crochet 7 sc. When you reach the corner, ch1, 1 sc in 1st st of top of strap. 1 spike st in next st, 1 sc in next st. Repeat from the * 21 [24] times. (50 [56] sts) Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
