Why Computer Systems Engineering Do you enjoy Mathematics and Physics? Do you want to be engaged in a fascinating field of study which could make your time at University a challenging, enriching and rewarding experience? Would you like to help millions of people on a day to day basis? Do you want to earn a highly sought after degree in a very unpredictable job market? Do you like being creative “Yes”?
Its all Computer Systems Engineering. The roots of Computer Systems Engineering are found in Mathematics and Sciences. If you like these subjects you will definitely enjoy computer systems engineering. Computer Systems Engineers make things that increase quality of life. Computer Systems Engineers learn to apply mathematics, electronics and computing theory to design highly efficient autonomous systems such as industrial control systems, humanoid robots for services, high speed networks and distributed systems for service availability at fingertips. Applications of Computer Systems Engineering can be found in every aspect of life such as computing, remote industrial control, health care, education, transportation, informatics and smart energy systems. Currently, the industry lacks truly professional computer systems engineers, who can push forward the momentum of innovation and incorporation of technology into our daily lives. You can take the lead in this direction and join computer systems engineering at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University.
Did you know ! MAJU is a W-category university (which is the highest category given by Higher Educational Commission). The program is being offered with the approval of Pakistan Engineering Council. Department of Computer Science at MAJU offers a diverse and broad-based electrical engineering program at an exceptional Student to Faculty ratio of 7:1 fostering close student-teacher relationship. With three foreign qualified PhD faculty members actively involved in cutting-edge research with international collaborators, students will get the opportunity to work on research projects from very early stages of their studies. The department possesses four state-of-the-art engineering labs, a computing lab, and an electrical workshop. Four more labs are planned to be developed in the next two years.
Admission Requirements Higher Secondary School Certificate or Equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Computer Science securing at least 60% marks in aggregate OR Diploma of Associate Engineer Examination in relevant discipline securing at least 70% aggregate marks. MAJU Admission test and interview.
Program Durations This is a four years degree program comprising of 8 regular semesters. There is a Fall semester and a Spring semester each year. Summer semester is utilized for internship or deficiency courses only. The maximum duration to complete the BE program is 7 years.
Degree Requirements Each candidate of BE (Computer Systems Engineering) is required to: Complete at least 134 credit hours with a minimum 2.0 of 4.0 CGPA. Complete a senior design project (SDP) during the fourth year of his studies. The student must complete at least 90 credit hours of course work prior to registering for the SDP. Undergo a mandatory 6-8 week internship. The internship is usually taken after passing 60 credit hours. The internship is closely monitored by an internship coordinator. Successful completion of internship is a mandatory requirement for graduation.
