Dr. Del Rosario spoke about the shifts in curriculum and instruction that have occurred over the past few years in Sweetwater. Rubio spoke about the plan for communicating results to students, staff and the entire community, sharing that toolkits for schools have been provided to share common talking points and messages. Scores are expected to be released in early September.
ATHLETICS
A"er hearing informa.on about poten.al guidelines for high school teams opera.ng outside of their athle.c season, the Board of Trustees took ac.on on an item that established a clear policy for teams and coaches. The board unanimously chose “Op.on 1” that limits the fees that are allowed to be collected by teams and also limits fundraising or any other par.cipa.on fees to only be charged during the season of sport. This op.on also ensures that coaches must have an ac.ve membership status and facility use applica.ons must be submiCed to the Sweetwater District. GRADUATION
T h e B o a rd o f Tr u ste e s b e ga n a conversa.on of providing reimbursement to sites for onsite gradua.on expenses. Recently, 2013-‐2014 gradua.on cost informa.on was provided to the board of trustees. Staff provided the informa.on in response to concerns raised about equitable funding of district gradua.ons. The facility use fees charged by SWC and Sleep Train Amphitheater for district schools conduc.ng off site gradua.on was not absorbed by those sites. Schools conduc.ng gradua.ons on site did absorb that cost. Considering the number of students gradua.ng from the schools conduc.ng their gradua.on ceremonies at either SWC or Sleep Train Amphitheater and the cost of ren.ng those facili.es, the computed cost per student was $11.83 in 2013-‐2014. The item was tabled for discussion at a future mee.ng.
