All positive. Consent Items – Agenda adopted. Bill motions to adopt the agenda. Clyde seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Principal Update: Mitch Barlas Presentation of budget submitted to MCOE June 30th.. Mitch reviewed findings (see agenda handouts). Budget is fine. The main challenge is cash flow. Bob followed with further information regarding day-‐to-‐day transactions that are on the books. Looking at monthly expenditures. Donations have been included (see board packet). Nancy moves to inquire with factoring about the dollar amount that BVA can barrow up to and other details regarding further borrowing. Marylyn seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Mitch reported out on agenda items #2 and #3 (See “snap shot” of agenda packet). Discussion about the possible hiring of a STAR testing coordinator for BVA. Barbara motions to hire STAR testing coordinator @$38.00/hr for 70 hours. Clyde seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Mitch announces that he will re-‐structure the ELD and Intervention positions and review the original candidates and to report out results at next Board meeting. Brian recommends that we review the flexibility that would facilitate Professional Development of team collaboration (of teachers) and provide an update at next Board meeting.
BTSA: Mitch shared the details of the County’s program and indicated that there is no upfront (or any) costs to BVA by enrolling teachers in this program. Brian moves to give Bill authorization to sign BTSA MOU in order to implement the program at BVA. Bob seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Bill recommends adjourn to closed session. Adjourn back to open session: Report of actions taken in closed session: Clyde motions to look at the ELD candidates that were originally in the applicant pool for the position. Barbara seconds. Motion passes unanimously BVA Mascot: Discussions of process of selecting a school mascot. Bob motions that the school-‐wide (official) BVA mascot remain the sea star and an individual class (grade level) mascot be permitted. Bill seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Website: Wordpress will be used for the new website. Discussion around private business contributions and donations and whether to include a means of gaining sponsorships from them and advertise accordingly. Bob moves to acknowledge Chris Pritchard as the new website designer and include his name at the bottom of the school web pages. Marylyn seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Capitol Campaign and plan: Ben Ben suggests that each board member take a list of organizations and make contact with them in order to solicit donations.
