A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT CAPACRAO 2016 The Executive Board of the Chesapeake and Potomac Association of Registrars and Admission Officers extends a warm welcome to the 4th Annual Meeting of CAPACRAO to our Maryland and District of Columbia colleagues. You have honored our Association by selecting the CAPACRAO Annual Meeting to advance your professional development and networking opportunities! Your attendance demonstrates your commitment to yourself and your profession. The Executive Board encourages you to look for ways in which you can make a difference. CAPACRAO’s 2015-2016 year served as a benchmark in our very young association’s timeline. From the initial formation of the idea to create CAPACRAO to the very first meeting at UMBC, the driving goal was to establish and cultivate a vibrant network of resources and learning opportunities for local Registrar and Admissions professionals. We are proud that this, our 4th Annual Meeting, clearly establishes we are well on our way and working hard to provide meetings and activities that fulfill our mission. This year, for the first time, CAPACRAO presented at the Annual AACRAO Meeting - a hallmark in recognition by our larger nationwide organization. The key to CAPACRAO’s success is the dedication and commitment of its people - whether as a board member, a committee volunteer, or an attendee at a meeting or webinar. You make a difference! In the next two days, you will learn from your colleagues as they present their knowledge and expertise. A large selection of sessions are guaranteed to make you wish you could be in two places at once. From topics as diverse as LGBTQ issues to as invigorating as a legislative and policy update, you will have the opportunity to engage in rich dialogue on subjects that matter to your operational and strategic goals as well as your professional development. Bring lots of business cards as you will establish new connections and continue to grow those from previous years. Discover new products and services by visiting with our corporate partners to discuss the ways they can improve services and processes on your campus. Remember, you make a difference! You are the key to making CAPACRAO successful. It is our hope that you leave this annual meeting energized and motivated to continue doing great work through the missions of your institutions. CAPACRAO’s longevity depends on professionals like you. You make a difference at the CAPACRAO meeting, on your campus, and beyond. Joellen E. Shendy CAPACRAO President

T13453 Piloting National Student Clearinghouse's Reverse Transfer System in Maryland Patrick Elliot, Senior Associate Registrar, UMUC Meg Tuozzo, Director of Community College Alliance Operations, UMUC Michelle Blackwell, National Manager of Reverse Transfer, NSC Ambitious degree and credential attainment goals drive not only states but the nation when it comes to higher education credentials. The potential for reverse transfer to play a prominent role in completion agendas has already been established, particularly for community colleges where students often leave before degree completion. The current reverse transfer process is highly laced with manual processes. However, the potential for reverse transfer to be an automated process, where data flows among institutions and communication is coordinated, is fast becoming a reality with National Student Clearinghouse’s Reverse Transfer System. UMUC, working with pilot partners such as College of Southern Maryland, 30
SESSION DESCRIPTIONS CAPACRAO 2016 seeks to implement more forward thinking technology to support the reverse transfer process. New technology will help us better identify eligible students and ease the current labor intensive processes with seamless data transfer back and forth. A student would only need to provide permission one time and the ensuing exchange of data would be FERPA compliant. This is in contrast to the current model where frequently students must send transcripts after each term. This session will provide an overview of the initial steps in the pilot process between UMUC and other pilot partners, focusing on the potential of this new system and next steps in the pilot Reverse Transfer program. UMUC will provide perspectives from both the Registrar's and Enrollment Management offices. T13454 The Accidental Catalog Wes Miller, Account Executive, DIGARC Attendees will learn about delivering the SIS and other campus systems with accurate and timely information related to curriculum; increasing transparency, efficiency, and accountability during academic content creation; and presenting critical, institutional data in a marketing oriented format to the campus community.
