SUBJECT: Live Implementation of Duty/Tax Exempt System
Effective Monday, 18 August 1997, the Electronic Duty/Tax Exemption System which has been on a successful parallel run over the last three weeks shall go live for exemptions approved by and released from the Mabuhay Lane. The original copy of the approved application shall now be given to the applicant who in turn shall attach said copy to the Import Entry and Internal Revenue Declaration (lEIRD) upon filing at the Bureau of Customs. The third copy of the endorsement shall likewise be given to the applicant. An electronic record of the approved exemption shall be created and transmitted to the Bureau of Customs immediately through the computer system. A regular feedback mechanism shall be instituted between the Bureau of Customs and Mabuhay Lane to insure that there will be no breaches in security. Until further notice, submission of regular progress reports on the status of the system shall be made to the undersigned. The committee under SO 2-97 dated 10 July 1997 is hereby directed to study and submit recommendation on how Non-Mabuhay exemption shall be covered by the Electronic Tax/Duty Exemption System.
