DHSEM Update ~ July 31, 2015 Information and Updates State, FEMA Open Joint Field Office to Support DR-4229 Disaster Recovery Efforts
On Monday, July 27, 2015 a Joint Field Office became operational for State and FEMA staff supporting the DR-4229 major disaster recovery operations. The Joint Field Office is located at the Denver Federal Center. It houses state and federal personnel involved in the response and recovery from the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, landslides, and mudslides that occurred between May 4 and June 16, 2015. President Obama declared a major disaster on July 16 for eleven counties within the state due to spring storms.
Colorado Emergency Planning Committee 2015 Conference
The Colorado Emergency Planning Committee is hosting an annual conference for Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) members, first responders and local, state and federal partners who are responsible for hazardous material response planning. The conference will be held September 9-11, 2015 in Mount Crested Butte, Colorado. View the conference flyer for full details. View the final conference agenda. This year two LEPC members per LEPC are eligible for lodging on Wednesday and Thursday nights. DHSEM Grant Information and Updates
Public Assistance Applicant Briefings began this week in Elbert County and the Town of Iliff for DR-4229. The applicant briefings will continue through August 14, 2015. To see a schedule of the briefings visit our website to view a calendar of events related to the current major disaster declaration. If you are a potential Public Assistance Sub-Applicant and need to access the Request for Public Assistance form it is posted to our DHSEM website. DHSEM Staff Retirements: Deanna Butterbaugh and Greg Moser
Deanna Butterbaugh and Greg Moser, two of our most beloved mitigation specialists, are retiring from state government service. Deanna has served with state emergency management for close to six years and Greg has served with state emergency management for over four years. Both have accomplished great things in their times served. We will miss them greatly. We will continue to see Greg in his new capacity as emergency management coordinator for the City of Westminster.

The DHSEM Incident Management Team/ Emergency Operations Center Sub-Committee has updated the IMT task books.
