Largest Chinese corporations are interested in investing in construction industry in Georgia, Georgian wine and tourism sector - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili made respective statement during the meeting with President of Hualing Group Mi Enhua and representatives of other Chinese corporations. Giorgi Kvirikashvili elaborated on Georgia’s investing environment in Georgia and noted that Georgia offers its investors wide opportunities and free and open economy. Particular emphasis was placed on perspectives of increasing Georgian export and the growing dynamics of export of Georgian wine to China was highlighted. Conversation also touched upon positive trend observable in tourism industry and unparalleled growth of inflow of tourists. Participants of the meeting also discussed the importance of the free trade agreement that, according to them, boosts the potential of development of bilateral relations. Prime Minister of Georgia conducted an introductory meeting with the new IMF Mission Chief for Georgia Mercedes Vera-Martin. Giorgi Kvirikashvili congratulated Mercedes Vera Martin on becoming the new IMF Mission Chief for Georgia and expressed hope that her activities will be directed at even further deepening of the partnership. The parties to the meeting discussed cooperation issues, economic processes in Georgia, macroeconomic data and forecasting. Importance of the IMF’s support in terms of achieving macroeconomic stability in the country and improvement of economy of Georgia was highlighted. Giorgi Kvirikashvili presented the 4-point reform plan to the representatives of the IMF. Respective plan is aimed at development of Georgian economy; stimulation of business; development of infrastructure; preparation of employees that are able to meet demands of the labor market; and refinement and modernization of public service. Particular attention was paid to the positive trend that is observable in hospitality sector and unparalleled number of tourists in Georgia. It was indicated that the Government is actively working on attraction of investments. Sides discussed the DCFTA and importance of introduction of the visa free regime and discussed regional challenges. It was hoped that Georgia would become an example of macroeconomic stability and economic development. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, for the first time in the country’s history, it has finalists of Startup Georgia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili expressed hope that program will encourage entrepreneurial spirit in Georgia and will enable youth to launch own business. “Completely groundbreaking methodology employed by this initiative gives young, innovative and active people an access to funding without having to provide any collateral and based solely on the criterion of worthiness of business idea. I am glad to see eagerness of so many young people. I would like to congratulate you on being here today, on becoming finalists. In My opinion, this program, that represents part of Government’s 4-point reform plan, is the most important. This program encourages entrepreneurial spirit and enables youth to launch own business activity ad change mindset of whole generation. Today it is possible to develop a worthy, innovative idea and start a business through not only banking sector, but via Startup Georgia as well,” - Prime Minister noted. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, finalists will enjoy maximum state support. He also thanked everyone who participated in development and implementation of the program. “Today we have 51 finalists out of which 20 will be selected. However, each of them is a winner, since they will enjoy important state support. I would like to thank Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency and Partnership Fund of Georgia for brilliant execution of the program. I would also like to thank international experts who made this program possible. International experts compared startup dynamics with that of European countries and indicated that Georgia has quite high dynamics, which is a welcoming fact. More than 720 applications have already been submitted within the frames of Startup Georgia. International experts of Silicon Valley selected 51 best ideas out of around 150 applications. A delegation from one of the leading business organizations in Turkey visited Georgia to pave the way for developing bilateral economic, commercial, industrial and financial relations. Georgia’s Economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili welcomed the guests from the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), headed by the chairman of DEIK’s Turkish-Georgia Business Council Cemal Yangin. The questions of bilateral trade-economic relations were discussed at the meeting. Turkey is a biggest trade partner of Georgia. The investments and tourism were underlined as important spheres of cooperation. The parties underlined that cooperation between Turkey and Georgia are playing an important role for the regional economic development. The Turkish party expressed its gratitude for support of Georgia in events on July 15, at coup attempt. Turkish guests and Georgian

The Chairman of the Government of Ajara Zurab Pataradze met with the representatives of Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), they were in Ajara Region on a working visit. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture of Ajara Lasha Komakhidze, the Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara Ramaz Bolkvadze, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara Sulkhan Khalvashi and the head of International Relations Department of Ajara Khatuna Nakeuri. The Turkish Delegation was headed by the chairman of DEIK’s Turkish-Georgia Business Council Cemal Yangin. The meeting was also attended by the Consul General of Turkish Republic in Batumi Mr. Yasin Temizkan, Secretary General of International Investors Association of Georgia Osman Chalishkan (Mzhavanadze) and other members. At the meeting it was noted that Turkey is the most important trade partner of Georgia. The investments and tourism were underlined as important spheres of cooperation. The parties underlined that cooperation between Turkey and Georgia are playing an important role for the regional economic development. On 24 August, 2016, International Investors Association was visited by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), Delegation was in Ajara for working visit. The meeting was held by the organizing of Investors Association, the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), headed by the chairman of DEIK’s Turkish-Georgia Business Council Cemal Yangin. The meeting was also attended by the Consul General of Turkish Republic in Batumi Mr. Yasin Temizkan, The representatives of Batiad, Batsiad and Musiad Georgia, and the representatives of IIA member companies. At the meeting it was noted that Turkey is the most important trade partner of Georgia. Also, emphasized the importance of current projects about investment and tourism in the region and future perspectives of cooperation in these fields. Participants of the meeting also talked about the fact of the cooperation between the business sector of Georgia and Turkey has a great importance for the region’s economic development. The sides have discussed plans of future cooperation in Business sphere, Also several issues were discussed at the meeting. Among them were issues on deepening cooperation in economic and trade spheres and the main emphasis were placed on Georgia’s exports.
