The cooperation between Georgia and India will deepen, as was emphasized at today’s meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Indian Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju. The Head of Georgian Government assessed the first high-level visit of India’s government delegation as a demonstration of growing relations between the two countries. The parties discussed a wide range of cooperation aspects and emphasized the importance of the Memorandum on Deeper Civil Aviation Cooperation signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Republic of India. The discussion also involved the great potential the two countries have in the fields of tourism, transport, culture, and education. It was emphasized that the launch of direct flights between Georgia and India would further develop these relations. During the meeting, special attention was paid to prospects of trade and economic cooperation and investment relations in such industries as energy, agriculture, and information technology. The role of the Georgia-India Council for Cooperation in the Fields of Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, Culture and Education in further deepening the partnership between the countries was pointed out. Giorgi Kvirikashvili communicated to the Indian Minister of Civil Aviation information about the Georgian Government’s fourpoint reform agenda and the country’s investment opportunities. The parties commended the work of large Indian corporations in Georgia, including Tata Group’s investments. The discussion also involved “Film in Georgia”, a component under the “Produce in Georgia” state program that seeks to develop Georgian cinematography, in which Indian producers have taken much interest. In 2019, a five-star hotel Hilton Tbilisi will be opened in Tbilisi. The hotel will be situated in the former building of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. For this purpose, $20 million investment will be implemented in the 200-room hotel. The contract has been signed between the Hilton Corporation and the Granat Company by the vice-president of Hilton Worldwide Michael Collin and the president of Granat Georgia Elguja Tsintsadze. First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili attended the signing ceremony. “In 2019, a new five-star hotel under the brand of Hilton will be opened in Tbilisi, where it is intended to arrange the Michelin restaurant. This is another good example of cooperation between the state and the private business sector. Tbilisi and its settlers have long waited for opening such an important facility in this beautiful building, which is situated in the center of the city,”- Kumsishvili said. According to him, the construction of the hotel will employ several hundred people while after the enactment of the hotel, over 200 people will be employed in the facility. The Minister evaluated the Program as very successful. “During the two years of the Program, over 200 enterprises have been created. If we present it in working days, we can conclude that every third day we had the opening of a new company. At this point, the Program has produced the investment potential of more than 400 million GEL and over 10 000 people got employed as well,” – the Vice Prime Minister stated. It should be noted, that Iseko is producing steel pipes, which are used in gas and water supply systems as well as in construction. The company’s products are already exported to Armenia while the export to Azerbaijan is also on the way. Denola Ltd produces flexible foam that is used mainly in furniture and supplies it to the furniture company Embawood, which exports its production to Azerbaijan. Sharavandi Ltd produced different types of labels and polymer wrapping material. The company operates in the country for over 15 years and expanded its production and renewed its equipment within the frames of the State Program Produce in Georgia. The main activity of the LG Glass Ltd includes production of glazing, thermal processing of glass, ceramic coating, painting, as well as aluminum and plastic windows of any kind of stained glass and construction and installation of other types of the assemblies. Georgian Products Ltd is occupied by furniture production for animals and the 100% of its production is export to the EU markets. The company has created more than 360 new jobs.

The plant produces sticky cement, tin roofs, nails, wire, facade and surfacing materials, water and sewage pipes, plastic doors and windows and other products. The new plant was opened in the frames of program ‘Produce in Georgia.’ Investor received funding of 4 million Gel and according to the contract built the plant on 7695 square meters’ area. 2 million Gel has been already invested.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, in January-October 2016 a total of 38 392 510 bottles of wine have been exported to 50 countries which is 37% more than in the same period of 2015. In value terms, exports amounted to $ 88, 3 million which is 14% more than in the same period of 2015. According to the Ministry, growth in wine exports to China amounted to 138% and reached 4,037,825 bottles, to Ukraine- 64% (4 212 110), Belarus - 57% (931 602) Great Britain - 47% (74 188), Poland - 44% (1 819 542), Russia - 20% (20,531,892), Estonia - 33% (516,048) , Kyrgyzstan - 17% (202 666 ) , Japan - 12% (141 774), USA- 12% (234 616) , Germany -11% (234 422), Canada 7% (157 860), Latvia - 6% (978 762 ). Russia leads among the countries importing Georgian wine (20 531 892 bottles), China (4 307 825) , Ukraine – 94 212 110, Kazakhstan - (3,019,147), and Poland (1 819 542). In addition, in 10 months of 2016, a total of 7 129 158 bottles of brandy ($ 16,3 million) have been exported to 16 countries which is 31% more than in the same period of 2015. During this period Georgia have exported wine, brandy, vodka and alcohol in the amount of $ 148, 3 million, whereas in the same period of 2015 - 115, 7 million.
