Georgia will be visited by a group of small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) from the United States of America (USA) according to the information conveyed to Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Acting Prime Minister of Georgia by Mr. Gabriel Schulze, Executive Chairman of Schulze Global Investments (US investment firm) at the meeting held at the Government Administration . Schulze Global Investments manages investments of hundreds of millions of USD at the largest markets of the world. First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili held a meeting with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation Managing Director, Kenneth Angel. First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia confirmed the gratefulness to the OPIC representative for every project which was implemented in Georgia upon the OPIC support. OPIC delegation arrived to Georgia in order to approve two very important projects which were negotiated upon with the Corporation. Opening of a 120-bed maternity and children medical center, which will be constructed in full compliance with the USA standards, is the first project. According to the project, this center will serve as a regional hub and provide service for Georgian patients as well as for those of neighboring countries. The project implementation requires the investment amounting to 27 million USD, with the OPIC participation equal to 17 million USD. This will be the first pediatric hospital in Georgia with the JCI accreditation. Another project covers the construction of a port-complex on the territory of the PACE Terminal Ltd and the new water front in Poti. Total investment amounts to 100.5 million USD with the OPIC participation equal to 50 million USD. This project will employ about 100 people during the construction phase and will generate 90 permanent employments upon the opening of the port. Dimitry Kumsishvili noted that he hopes for further mutually beneficiary cooperation with the OPIC. OPIC in Georgia. Economic Council Session has been held at the Government Office today. The session was led by the Chairman of Ajara AR Government Zurab Pataradze. The Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara Ramaz Bolkvadze informed the Chairman and the council members about the Kobuleti landfill project. As the Minister noted, working on Tsetskhlauri resettlement plan has been already completed. According to the plan, compensation will be determined by market prices. International tender will be announced for works. Arrangement of the landfill of the international standards in the village Tsetskhlauri, Kobuleti will be completed in Summer, 2018. It should be noted that the project’s total investment cost is 7 million Euros, out of which 3 million Euros will be allocated in the frames of EBRD Cheap Loan; 4 million Euros will be allocated from Swedish International Development Agency SIDA. The landfill project envisages the construction of a new sanitary landfill polygon and the access road, as well as the he gradual closure of landfills in Batumi and Kobuleti.

Department of Tourism of Ajara has published a research on the international visitors arrivals in Ajara in April-June in 2016. A total of 909 visitors were interviewed at the border before they left the country. The research revealed that in April-June period most of foreign tourists (45.4%) visited Ajara with their friends while 31.1% travelled alone. Most of them stay in Ajara 2-3 nights. The cost of staying in Ajara for an average tourist amounts to GEL 1 059. It includes food, accommodation, entertainment and other activities as well as international transport tourists use. Similarly to the previous
statistics, most of tourists in Ajara came to see the nature and landscapes (55.7%), for gambling (9,1%). 90% of visitors were eco-tourists, the number of wine tourists made 38,64% and cultural tourists were 31.24%. As the previous three surveys show, 72% of tourists are extremely satisfied with their holiday in the region. 95% of them wish to visit it again. As for problematic issues, the percentage of tourists make complaints is very law. Only 1,03% of tourists complained about weather and 0,42% about the road infrastructure.
