The countdown is on-in 364 days, a new railroad will lead directly into the Kutaisi International Airport. Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili participated in today’s ceremony dedicated to the launch of the construction of a three-kilometer railroad track and a station. Thanks to this new railroad track, every passenger train travelling from the east to the west, or vice versa, will stop a few yards from the Kutaisi International Airport. According to the Prime Minister, the new railroad, along with the airport, will symbolize what Georgia aspires to achieve-to become a country with a modern European model of planning with rapid dynamics. “The Kutaisi Airport, along with this station, will become a vitally important center where our citizens, who wish to travel to Europe for an affordable price, now visa-free, will be able to enjoy a comfortable modern Stadler train. Every traveler will be able to travel from the Kutaisi Airport to any place in Georgia within a few hours, including sea and mountain destinations,” the Prime Minister stated. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the Government aims to make it possible to travel from Kutaisi to any place in Georgia in a couple of hours, including resorts, the newly built

Ambrolauri Airport, or the airports in Mestia and Telavi. It is also planned, as the Prime Minister said, to build other small airports, and planning has been launched in Southern Georgia. The Head of Government also spoke of the far-reaching Rikoti highway project, after the completion of which it will be possible to travel from Tbilisi to Kutaisi in two hours. According to the Prime Minister, the joint operations of the railroad and the airport will promote Kutaisi as an important tourist, logistics, and transport hub. During his speech, Giorgi Kvirikashvili also emphasized the Kutaisi Campus under construction and well underway, with the project’s cost reaching one billion. “Along with the Tbilisi Hi-Tech Center, it will make up a single complex, and Kutaisi will become an international college town, which will give it a fresh impetus. Historically, Kutaisi has been Georgia’s cultural center, and it will also become an important business center, a vital hub for transport, logistics, and tourism,” the Prime Minister said. Among the most important projects, Giorgi Kvirikashvili singled out the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project, a constituent part of the Government’s spatial development plan. “This mainline is not just a railroad site. It is a constituent of a large spatial development project, which is, in turn, a part of our four-point agenda, which seeks to deliver main infrastructure and key services to every corner of Georgia. Kutaisi will become a very important center of Georgia’s spatial development. Georgia has a well justified ambition of becoming a regional hub,” the Prime Minister stated. The Head of Government also mentioned the Best Western Hotel-which opened today-a project implemented with support from the Partnership Fund. Giorgi Kvirikashvili also described the work of the Imeri enterprise. Using financing under the Produce in Georgia state program, this enterprise has created 200 additional jobs. Giorgi Kvirikashvili set off the countdown timer at the Kutaisi International Airport, indicating the number of days left to the completion of the new railroad and station.

together with the Health Minister, visited this health center with 100 beds and modern equipment. The Prime Minister hopes that the new clinic will provide top-quality professional delivery services to bring joy to scores of families. The Head of Government thanked the clinic’s founder Davit Gagua for this important investment. Giorgi Kvirikashvili emphasized the role of Health Minister Davit Sergeenko in the development of the universal healthcare program and the importance of the ongoing investments in the hospital sector. “I am glad that the universal healthcare program facilitates active investments in the hospital sector. Partnership is about every party contributing to the formation of a system, which is still in the making. This system is being upgraded on a daily basis. Georgia is a true pioneer, and we should be proud of having ensured universal access to healthcare, to dispel our citizens’ concerns about medical services. It is a great achievement. I reiterate the great role of Mr. Davit Sergeenko in this achievement,” the Prime Minister stated. According to the Prime Minister, any clinic’s success depends on its medical personnel whose professionalism is the foundation of the healthcare system. “A clinic is predominantly about doctors, their professionalism and their commitment to their calling. I tip my hat to all doctors who, even in most difficult times, have been serving this most important and honorable profession in Georgia. Doctors, teachers, and police officers must be cherished by the state. This clinic is a witness to the the arrival of Georgia’s future, and I wish it success! In my past life, I was a doctor. If we had clinics like this when I was a student, I may have dedicated my life to this profession. I am happy that people who have excelled in their commitment to this vocation have built such a wonderful clinic,” Giorgi Kvirikashvili said. The event, among other guests, was attended by Justice Minister Thea Tsulukiani whom the Prime Minister once again congratulated on the birth of her daughter. “The Gagua Clinic offers all necessary women’s healthcare services. All social strata can afford these medical services. The clinic is fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. Almost 30 MDs will work here. The healthcare center will also serve as an educational facility for Tbilisi State Medical University and David Tvildiani Medical University students.

Georgian Parliament Speaker, Irakli Kobakhidze was the special guest at the meeting. “On-going processes in the Georgian Parliament, I mean the work on the constitutional changes, those positive initiatives are directly linked to the routine of the business activities. We asked the Speaker of Georgian Parliament to meet business sector representatives in order to discuss those issued and he confirmed his readiness. Our main objective should be targeted on rapid economic growth. Creating new work-places is the priority for us and we clearly understand that the FDI and investments in general are the most important guarantee of economic growth,” – Giorgi Gakharia stated. Speaker of Georgian Parliament expressed gratefulness to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development for organizing such a meeting and noted that the Constitutional Commission is ready to discuss any regulation, which might become the issue within the working process, with the representatives of the business sector. “We are actively working on Constitutional changes and creating new system of democratic governance. We are elaborating such a constitutional model, which excludes any possibilities of autocracy in Georgia. The Constitution should serve two main objectives - provide pluralism and democracy and create the system of stabile governance. We aim to find perfect balance of those two objectives,” – Irakli Kobakhidze commented.

According to the statistics for the first quarter of 2017, wine export has grown by 85% - Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili spoke of positive statistics at the Government meeting. In January-March, Georgia exported 14,200,000 bottles of wine, marking a 77% increase in financial volume. “I believe it is a great indicator. It is especially exciting that market diversification continues, including not only Georgia’s immediate neighborhood, but the fastgrowing EU and Chinese markets as well, which reiterates the immense importance of our export potential to Georgia,” the Prime Minister stated and thanked the Ministry of Agriculture for its engagement that “brings about much positive action even beyond the wine export direction.” According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, agriculture, as a direction, can have the greatest social impact on the lives of Georgian citizens. The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Wine Agency to ensure better coordination in exporting wine because, as Giorgi Kvirikashvili believes, in some markets “Georgian entrepreneurs, unfortunately, find themselves in unproductive competition with each other.
