The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) *Give direction and vision to the IT Department as it relates to the total mission of the Division. *To balance the division’s technology needs with its instructional needs and goals by blending the technical and instructional aspects of the department into a wellbalanced vision and mission for technology. Technical:
Focus on long-range vision and planning as it relates to the Division’s Comprehensive Plan and in coordination with VDOE’s Technology Plan. This is to be reviewed and adjusted yearly.
Create, manaage and oversee the Technology Budget. This includes managing Erate funding requests, VPSA funding, Project Renew Technology Funding and approving all expenditures.
Develop and implement a plan for the orderly and effective replacement of aging equipment managed by the department such as computers, printers, phones, mobile devices, interactive whiteboards and related software, equipment and installation.
Oversee and give direction to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Division IT systems. This system encompasses all computers, phones (which includes the hosted VoIP phone system and all its related devices and related Administrative software), cellphones, LAN network and related devices and cabling, WAN network and related connections, Wireless Network and all related equipment and cabling. Maintenance of the 1:1 Program at the High School and Middle School, Food Services computers, software in the CO and all schools within the division as well as the successful implementation of all SOL testing in the Division is required.
Oversee the maintenance, installation, timely upgrades and technical support for student and staff software programs including but not limited to Renaissance Learning (Accelerated Reader, Star Reader, Accelerated Math, Star Math), Follett (Catalog Plus, Alliance Plus, Circulation and other media center programs), and other programs purchased by the division.
Serve as the ERate Project Manager which involves the successful and timely submittal of all funding requests under the E-Rate Program which includes successful and timely posting of Form 470, successful and timely submittal of Form 471 which identifies the vendors contracted for eligible services and internal connections, successful and timely submittal of Form 486 identifying service start date, successful
and timely submittal of the BEAR Form for reimbursements and all other forms and documents necessary to succeed in the E-Rate program; obtain, submit and maintain all supportive documentation.
Maintain an effective and efficient online Technology Trouble Ticketing system for all troubleshooting needs.
Administer Google Apps across the division for students, staff, and administrators. This includes email accounts for all students, staff and administers as well and managing access to all related apps for the various groups and sub-domains with the G-Suite.
Assist the Network Technicians and Network Administrator in coordinating the procurement of device inventory as staff size changes, and a parts inventory for all models of devices used in the Division.
Manage all phone services: POTS lines, VoIP phones, and cell phones. Management involves approving the monthly service bills, negotiating service renewal contracts, troubleshooting and resolving service issues, replacing devices or phones when necessary, and configuring devices when necessary.
Manage Connectivity Services. This includes working with the Network Administrator to ensure all services are up 100%, contacting service providers support personnel when necessary, and negotiating service renewal contracts.
Manage all copy machine services for the division-negotiating service renewal contracts, managing PaperCut application, conferring with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to set account quotas. Web Services:
Serve as Webmaster for the division website.
Design and maintain Northampton County Public Schools website for ncpsk12.com and sub-domains.
Negotiate contract for the renewal of hosted website service.
Negotiate contract for renewal of domain sites.
Design the overall layout of the Division web presence.
Develop guideline for publishing content to the websites.
Assign sited and department administrators for the division website and department pages. Provide training to these site and department administrators.
Monitor the sites and department pages to assure adherence to the publishing guidelines.
Design, implement and maintain NCPS Intranet. Instructional:
Collaborate with the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher to focus on the short-term and long-term goals and mission of the division as it relates to the integration of technology into the Division’s learning goals.
Work in partnership with the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher to develop projects (i.e. the Paperless Classroom) that engage teachers in effective and up-todate integration and use of technology tools and strategies for effectively engaging student in the learning process.
Collaborate with the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher to develop a Professional Development calendar that makes training for this effective integration available at effective times. This calendar is shared with the staff and administration for coordination with their respective calendars.
Work with the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher to develop and implement a timely process for updating, rotating or expanding interactive technology hardware.
Collaborate with the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher to provide training and assistance as necessary to staff and administrators in the use of basic office software and the G-suite apps of Google Apps for Education. Administrative:
Work cooperatively with site Administrators, Department Directors, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in the role of technology assisting in the accomplishment of division goals.
Work with the CFO to prepare and maintain the yearly Technology Budget.
Allow for opportunities to research trends and developments in technology, both technical and instructional, and how these two blend together in the learning experience for students and teachers.
Attend the VDOE VSTE/ETL Conference held yearly.
Stay abreast of latest technology trends and initiatives that are relevant to the instructional goals of the division.
Develop a plan for stay up-to-date in personal technology skills.
Develop a plan for staying abreast of new technology and develop guidelines for determining the usefulness of new technology in meeting the division’s goals.
Work to help all members of the Technology Department build an efficient and effective Technology Team.
