Welcome to the 34th Annual Meridian Nite Trax Track & Field Invitational This meet will forever be in honor of Coach Bob Cole Date: Friday, May the 4th be with you!!!! Time: Pole Vault will begin at 4:00! All other Field Events at 4:30 pm Running events will start at 5:00 pm
Scratches: Scratches will be accepted until 3:45pm in the Aldrich Timing Tent at the finish line. Throwing Events: Athletes will have 4 attempts in the throwing events. Shot and disc may throw more than 2 of their 4 attempts in the first round. Weather permitting, the top nine will be called back for 2 additional throws. Long Jump: Athletes will have 3 attempts in long jump. Weather permitting, the top nine will be called back for 3 additional jumps. High Jump: Opening height begins at 5’ 3” for men and 4’ 3” for women. There will be two 3” raises then 2” until medalists remain. Weather, time and the number remaining will then dictate. Pole Vault: Opening height begins at 9’0” for men and 7’0” for women. There will be a 1 foot raise after opening height, then 6” raises until only medalists remain, then 3” raises. Weather, time and the number remaining will then dictate. Running Events: Weather permitting, we will have semi-finals. Bad weather will force seeded timed finals. The top two from each heat will move on with the next fastest times to follow. One heat of the distance runs. Lapped runners can stay on the track with everyone getting timed. The “fun 400m coaches and spectators” race or walk will take place after semi-finals. Encourage your spectators to go for a “walk” and be a part of the meet!
Since it’s May the 4th we highly encourage you to dress in Star Wars gear & bring your Light Saber! Awards: Individual medals to the first 3 and first 3 in relays. Medals will be awarded on the infield podium in front of everyone!!! Trophies will be presented to the top 3 teams. A trophy will be presented to the top runner and field athlete. Results will be available in the press box after the meet. Facilities: Buses- please arrive prior to 2:45pm or after 3:15pm to avoid school dismissal traffic. Bus parking in between the baseball and softball field. Use only chalk on the track. Tents are welcome but should be set up around the pine trees near the East end of the track. Non-athletes need to stay off the infield. A trainer will be available if needed for athletes during the meet.
