20 June 2017 Dear BUILD-IT Colleagues, On behalf of the Building University-Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) project and Arizona State University, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the Engineering Programs in Community Service (EPICS) faculty train-the-trainer workshop. This one-day workshop will focus on developing Service-Learning and Project-Based curricula for STEM undergraduate student teams. EPICS is a national award winning social entrepreneurship program. Student teams design, build, and deploy systems to solve STEM based problems for charities, schools, communities, and not-for-profit NGOs. Sequence of courses cover feasibility and planning, design and build, implement and install, and a capstone project. The workshop will be facilitated by ASU EPICS Program leadership including Josh Loughman and Hope Parker. You can view more information at http://epics.engineering.asu.edu We hope you and your colleagues will attend the event to work with ASU and other colleagues towards an introduction of the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) program, project-based learning combined with service learning and entrepreneurial mindset. Our hope is to launch the EPICs curricula on the BUILD IT Campuses, but also explore offering a joint program between Arizona State University and other host institutions to established crossinstitution collaboration in which ASU students will team with students from Vietnamese partner universities. This workshop will provide an overview of the EPICS program including tools that can be implemented in standard engineering courses. The first workshop will be held in HCMC on 17 July. The second workshop will be held in Ha Noi on 19 July. The third workshop will be held in Da Nang on 20 July. Please select (see below) which workshop is most convenient for your teams. A detailed agenda for the workshop is also attached. We hope that you and your colleagues will be able to attend this workshop!
