EWB-USA PROJECT GRANTS PROGRAM RUBRIC Using the scoring scale below, a score is assigned that reflects how well the grant application responds to the questions in each category. All eight categories are weighted equally and averaged to reach a total score. 5: The project was outstanding for this aspect 4: This aspect of the project was well done 3: The project adequately met the expectation for this aspect 2: This aspect of the project was less than adequate 1: The project only barely addressed this aspect 0: This aspect of the project was not addressed
Max. Score Project Description Are the community’s needs (the reason this project exists) clearly identified? Is the solution proposed for these needs clearly defined? Does the solution seem feasible and appropriate for this community? Community Engagement Does the project fully engage the community as a partner? Are specific examples given for how the community is contributing to the project’s success and sustainability? (Ex: labor, materials, lodging). What is the degree of local ownership of the project? Project Goals & Objectives Are the specific goals and objectives for the next trip or project phase clearly stated? Is achievement of these goals measurable? Sustainability Is the plan for financial sustainability defined, including the operation and maintenance plan? Are specific measures outlined for fostering public understanding of the project (educational materials and trainings, etc.)? Impact Are qualitative and quantitative metrics for measuring impact specifically stated? Are these appropriate metrics for measuring this project’s impact? [Refer to community needs identified as well as any baseline information provided by the applicant.] Budget Is the budget filled out appropriately, with large material costs itemized? Are project expenses reasonable? Are travel expenses reasonable? Project Funding Has the chapter raised significant funds for this project's next trip? Does the chapter have multiple funding streams and/or specific plans for fundraising besides this grant? Overall Quality Is the application well-written? Were responses concise and presented a compelling case for support at this time?
