Christian Aid launches Iraq Crisis Appeal An upsurge in violence is plunging Iraq into a new humanitarian crisis. More than 500,000 men, women and children have fled Mosul and other cities in the northwest in recent days, in fear for their lives. We are one of the few major agencies already working in Iraq, but we need to urgently step up our response. Hero Anwar is from our partner REACH, which is helping some of the most vulnerable refugee communities. She told the BBC: ‘People cannot stay in a place where they are under threat. They have to flee their homes with nothing. They have nothing and they need basic items just to survive. Because of donors such as Christian Aid we are able to respond.’ Please give what you can to support our crisis appeal and our crucial work in Iraq. With your support, we aim to reach 50,000 people with food, water and other essentials. To find out more or to donate, please visit our Iraq crisis appeal page: http://www.christianaid.org.uk/iraq Hunger for Justice: 18-19 October Join us in prayer and action for our climate this autumn. ACT One Million Ways When we campaign to tackle climate change here in the UK, we’re standing alongside our brothers and sisters across the globe, part of one body, bound to one another in a million ways. We’re all touched by the same things. Love and loss. Fear and hope. The troubling changes to our precious, fragile planet. Together we can take a million actions to change our world and build a safe, clean future; to stand against the greed and wastefulness that fuel climate change. We can make small changes in our everyday lives and in our communities, standing together to challenge politicians and businesses to take ambitious action to reduce the threat of climate change and protect the things we love. Take action today Email party leaders in Westminster and urge them to put climate change at the heart of their agendas. To take this action and find out more about our climate campaign, please visit: www.christianaid.org.uk/ActNow/climate-justice
PRAY Lord may we be the peacemakers, Not compassion fakers, Or passive partakers. But injustice shakers, And government wakers, May we be the peacemakers.
