Dear Reader, We are so excited to bring you another Friday Feature. This weekly publication will highlight the positive things going on inside and outside of Salt Fork High School. This won’t be possible without our stakeholders’ input. We want you to submit ideas and suggestions when you catch our students or staff “doing something right”. Submissions may be emailed to Mr. Chambliss ([email protected]) or Mrs. Taylor ([email protected]). We thank you in advance for taking time to recognize our students and/or staff.

Students’ Attend Jostens’ Leadership Conference Salt Fork High School has a new group of advisors. These advisors are students. Mr. Chambliss, Principal believes the following motto, “When decisions can be made by students, they should be made by students”. This sparked the idea of assembling a Student Advisory at SFHS. The advisory consists of 24-Salt Fork High School students ranging from freshman to senior. The only criteria for this group was a willingness to make a positive impact on SFHS and the community. Mr. Chambliss took a portion of this team the Josten’s Renaissance Leadership Conference at Lake Land College, in Mattoon on September 8th. Due to limited space only fourteen students could attend. The sot for this conference was paid for by our Josten’s representative, Mrs. Jessica Hageman. Josten’s Renaissance program provides various

resources that reinforce character development such as The Harbor, increasing connections with their peers including the Idea Exchange, and promoting a culture of celebration with innovative ideas like Renaissance Rallies. The main purpose of taking our advisory group to this amazing conference was to boost our school’s culture with the excitement, appreciation and uplifting energy of the Renaissance program. Our students were enthused to participate and came away with a plethora of ideas to bring back to our school. We are excited to begin implementing some of these new ideas to promote a positive school culture that empowers our students to reach their fullest potential.
