Glastonbury Tor Dash Saturday 31st Dec - 10:00 am This will be our third year of the Tor Dash. This year we've decided to give you the opportunity to run on the last day of 2016 - a good time to make running resolutions for 2017. The race is early enough in the day to allow you time to recover and 'do your thing' in seeing in the New Year later. If you've not run the race before then the picture attached to the email (and on the website) shows the Tor section well. You arrive at the bottom of the Tor on the left by the woodland, then traverse the Tor to the furthest point shown on the top of the photo. Then it's the climb on the ridge to the Tower. You then descend the steep path shown at the bottom and head left (right on the photo) - on the level of the hedge-line on the lower rampart, all the way back. From there lanes, fields and tracks get you back to the HQ and campsite. The race event HQ is at the Old Oaks Campsite, to the east of Glastonbury. (Grid Ref: ST524394, post code: BA6 8JS). The race will start prompt at 10:00 am (one hour earlier than last year). Please arrive in plenty of time to pick up your number. There is ample hard standing car parking, toilets and shower facilities at the campsite. As well as cakes, hot drinks and medals for all finishers, there will be prizes and trophies for 1st Male and Female and further prizes in various age categories. We will have a race briefing shortly before the race to give further details of the course and things to be aware of when you are running. It's worth pointing out though that if the weather is good there may well be quite a few other people on and around the Tor. Although we would urge you to keep to the made-up path as much as possible you will probably have to avoid other users by taking to the grass on either side. And finally, we will be taking entries on the day so if you know anyone else who needs to burn off the Christmas excesses then bring them along. Looking forward to seeing you.
