Community Gardens are green , open spaces where residents gather to garden together .
Gardens can be created and maintained by neighborhood associations, nonprofit contractors and organized community groups. Community Gardens are used to grow fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, or native or ornamental plants for noncommercial purposes. Urban agriculture improves the quality of life for urban residents by creating green spaces and enhancing the connections between garden participants.

Schedule a meeting with the Corvallis Parks and Recreation Parks Planner, Jacqueline Rochefort, at 541-766-6468. The meeting will cover location, design, and funding.
Support • Is the neighborhood in support of the garden in the proposed location? • Who will be the community garden liaison who works with the Parks Planner and the neighborhood gardeners?
The Parks and Recreation Parks Planner will review the proposal.
Resources • Does the project have funding for development and ongoing operation and maintenance? • Have the gardeners agreed to contribute 1/3 of the start-up costs for the garden’s creation?
Community gardeners will finalize garden design incorporating Parks and Recreation criteria.
Final garden plan will be reviewed by the Parks Planner, start-up costs will be determined, liability waivers and other paperwork completed.
Upon acceptance of fees, in-kind donations, and design plan, construction of the garden begins. Need • Is your neighborhood currently without gardening opportunities? • Do existing gardens have a waiting list? Location • Are there appropriate space and water resources on city owned property? A list of parks can be found at: www.corvallisoregon.gov/pr
