Hillcrest Neighborhood Association Monthly Meeting Minutes Wednesday September 06, 2017 6:05 pm Attendance: Sean Williams, Betsy Evans, Donna Butler, Bev McMurray, Greg & Cathy Huebner A. New Board Attendees 1. Greg & Cathy Huebner attended the monthly Board meeting, wanting to get involved. After describing the duties of Communications Secretary and Newsletter responsibilities, Greg decided to officially be Communications Secretary with Cathy helping him. 2. Greg and Cathy have 3 girls (Ages 8/6/4) and live on Highland. Greg works in the software industry and Cathy is a teacher at Schwegler Elementary School. 3. Comm. Sec. discussions included previous newsletters by Betsy and discussed what to include in the future. HNA’s Facebook account will be updated too. HNA has a website, but not really used. 4. Article possibilities in newsletter – New Casey’s store on 6th street, Compost Day, Feature Article on a Resident, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, The Big Event in March, Luella Tuel’s retirement, Air B&B’s rules/laws, Welcome back John Baker etc… 5. Greg said he would keep things simples and then refer them to a site for additional information. 6. Betsy will get Greg Sarah Martin’s information so he can contact her for all newsletter information. B. Alliances 1. Sean – Stressed the importance of having alliances with nearby businesses and Greek houses. 2. Greek houses have The Big Event in March where they help clean up neighborhoods. C. Fall Potluck 1. Date: October 22, 2017. Held from 4-6 with set up at 3pm. 2. Location: Plan A – Hillcrest Elementary gym. (Betsy checking with school and cost.) Plan B – Water Tower Park. D. HNA Boulder Update by Betsy 1. HNA Boulder is falling over. 2. Betsy had a contractor friend look at it and he said it may need some kind of concrete footing. 3. Sean said he would get an evaluation from architect friends. Greg & Cathy suggested looking into K&C contractor since they did their driveway. F. Book Box 1. Donna – Needs pavers or planting as it’s a mud pit around the box during inclement weather. G. Hillcrest School Carnival 1.
