Mechanic – Agricultural Machinery National Recruited Staff

Reports to: The Field Equipment Supervisor Location: Amman, Jordan

Closing date: 16 May 2014

Main purpose of the position To take care of repair, maintenance and calibration of agricultural field equipment. Because of being on a research station, also modifying, or even developing adequate solutions for the mechanization of field experiments are required. The operation of field equipment is part of the job with the present size of the station. For more details: www.icarda.org Main responsibilities Maintenance and repair of:  Tractors;  Soil tillage equipment;  Seedbed preparation equipment;  Planting equipment;  Fertilizer spreaders;  Sprayers;  Irrigation equipment;  harvesting equipment;  Selection, ordering and storing of spare parts;  Simple modifications to existing equipment;  Inspection and checking of components of equipment;  Field operations of equipment, tractor operated of self-propelled;  Perform other duties as and when required.

Education, qualifications and experience  Diploma of an Agricultural Technical Institute, or four years vocational training, or apprenticeship in agricultural machinery engineering;  Good knowledge in the field of service and repair or agricultural equipment;  Minimum of four years’ experience in the field of agricultural machinery service;  Holder of driving permits for private vehicles, tractors and up to medium size trucks (according to Jordanian traffic regulations);  Basic English;  Knowledge of computer operations to enable operation of software for agricultural equipment and spare part ordering desirable. Terms of appointment, salary and benefits The initial contract will be for 3 years, of which the first year will be probationary period. Subsequent employment is decided based on the merit and productivity of the staff member, and continued need for the position.
