Lions Club of Georgetown Gives Significant Donation to Halton Hills Public Library Funds Have Built and Enhanced Community’s Children’s Programming Rooms HALTON HILLS, ON –Halton Hills Public Library today announced it has received a $5000 donation from the Lions Club of Georgetown, Ontario. The funds complete a $25,000 commitment begun five years ago to enhance the Children’s Programming Rooms at the Library’s Georgetown Branch. “As members of the Georgetown Lions Club, we are very proud to present the final payment of $5,000 to sponsor the ‘Lions Club of Georgetown Children’s Programming Rooms’ at the Halton Hills Library - Georgetown Branch. We are especially excited to be here on Family Day, and see so many families enjoying the rooms and bonding together,” said Grant Harris, outgoing President. Proudly accepting the donation was Geoff Cannon, Director of the Library. “The Lions Club is the title sponsor of Family Day activities throughout Halton Hills,” said Cannon. “We are thrilled that they chose to honour us with this significant donation as part of their passion to give back to the Halton Hills community. Every single day we see children enjoying activities and discovering new worlds – and every day we’ll thank the Lions for their wonderful gift. Their generosity has enhanced our space beautifully.” Each day, the Children’s Programming Rooms are alive with singing, storytelling and creativity. They are among the busiest areas of the Library; with literally hundreds of kids participating in a variety of programming throughout the year. These programs instill a love of reading in children during the formative years; they experience reading as a joy which develops naturally into an invaluable lifelong skill. Reading programs, delivered in a cooperative and caring environment, give kids a strong foundation for future success.
