Let me firstly apologise, if you have no interest in Broadband, this report will not be for you, as it has been hijacked due to a major change in the future of The Village Broadband !

Broadband Update!
The latest position with County Broadband is that planning is
complete, and they are just costing the scheme. The next move when costs are confirmed would be to arrange a meeting with all the people that have kindly offered to assist with finance.!

HOWEVER !!!…. just like buses, we have no broadband (or very little), NOW we have two options.!

‘Superfast Essex’ have been working on a new scheme, with an alternative supplier to BT called ‘Cigaclear plc’, along with Epping Forest District Council. The Parish Council have in turn, been working tirelessly, campaigning to be involved with any scheme or finance to improve our Village Broadband.! It has now been agreed for a ‘Rural Challenge Project’, (also known as Phase 2b), to be tried within our District. This project will take fibre technology right into premises, (this is very rare) giving speeds from 50Mbps up to 1Gbps. This will include 4,500 homes and businesses within the north east of Epping Forest District. !

Ultimately this will assist other rural parts of Essex, (subject to funding), as this company are specialising in deploying Broadband to rural areas.The great thing is that Stapleford Abbotts will be part of the pilot project. !

Right how do we stand? We could carry on with County Broadband whereby private individuals will loan monies and this could be up and running in approximately 3 months. However as a homeowner would ! you stay with County Broadband or sign up for the new fibre network, which will be faster. If all (or many) of the customers leave, how are the investors going to recoup their invested monies.!

Cigaclear have signed a contract to commence installation to the District in November this year and be completed by December next year (2016).! Local awareness will be commenced in August this year and a roll out programme will be confirmed in September.! Installation will be carried out to every premise boundary, (much the same as cable TV). Then if you confirm that you require installation, a separate team will connect you. There will be a connection charge (advised appoximately £100 for average houses) then a monthly rental. Nearer our Parish installation, there will be local road shows and assistance to help individuals decide on required packages. !

Personally, to protect those people that offered financial assistance, and in light of the ULTRA FAST SPEEDS, it surely must be worth the slight delay for this service.!

We are looking for a voluntary ‘TREE WARDEN’ to operate in our Parish. To assist in nominating favourite trees, as ‘Landmark Trees’ within The Parish, and reporting on tree conditions.!
