TOP STORY Well Done Kundan!!!! The auto rickshaw meter runs faster, auto drivers and Taxi drivers demand extra fares, a newcomer to the City is taken by a longer route, and the fare cards are incorrect and inflated! The list is virtually endless. The Government, transport authorities, police, etc. are doing a good job at controlling this menace, but something is still missing. Do we have a solution? The only thing that can be done is to bring awareness among the commuters! No, just carrying the fare cards will not solve the issue. We need something more!!! And that is nothing but “IndiaRickFare”. IndiaRickFare provides you estimated fares, live fares; before you actually travel. And to make things transparent and clear IndiaRickFare also gives you a detailed exact route map! You can calculate live fares WITHOUT INTERNET connection. “IndiaRickFare” a calculator made for fare calculation is designed by SIOM MCA III year student. Kundan Murari Jadhav, is the name of inventor. It is an app for iphones. “IndiaRickFare” calculates fares for two location before you actually travel. Many research scholars have appreciated Kundan's Work and efforts. Prof. Daniel Jackson, Computer Science, MIT, US has given excellent remarks to the app. Compatible with iphone, iPod and iPad, the app is based on i- operating

system. It's a live meter which calculates fares during journey. You can check fares for any two places while sitting at home or office. Previous rides can be viewed later, as app stores your rides to history. In history section you can check source and destination address, fares, distance etc. App calculates waiting charges according to RTO rules in that city. If you are taking ride at night then app will automatically notify you that night charges will be applied. App also shows path from source to destination address. App calculates fares including WAITING AND NIGHT charges. Most important feature is Near By Places tab, which provides names of places in case of an emergency while in journey. Some cities where the app is booming now are Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur from Maharashtra and New Delhi , Bangalore, Hyderabad , Ahmedabad, Jaipur ,Chennai , Kolkata , Gurgaon , Surat, Coimbatore , Trivandrum , Puducherry, Mangalore , Indore , Hassan , Dharwad, Davangere, Chandigarh. More than 70+ downloads in one month from many countries including India, China, UK, USA , Thailand, Singapore, Page 1

SIOM MCA Software Contribution in Sports MCA III year students are keen to design, develop and deploy real time software in their VI Semester project. Along with academic importance, these projects prove to be beneficial not only to the organization and end users but also for the society. Students get glimpses of industrial life when they work there in an industrial culture. Sometimes our students get unique opportunity to work with prestigious and famous organizations and/or celebrities. Omprakash B a l a j i Batkulwar has a l s o go t a n opportunity to work and interact with world famous cricketer Mr. D i l i p Vengsarkar. Omprakash developed a Web Portal for “ Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy” underthe able guidance of Mr. Vengsarkar and Mr. Sandeep Chavan. Dr. V.D.Nandavadekar and Prof. Sunil Khilari are his institutional guides. The Portal concentrates more on the automation of conventional system by allowing the Cricket Academy to operate remotely on the Internet. It helps admin to perform functions like adding Events and managing contents remotely. The main aim of the portal is to develop modules for the Academies. These modules enhance good Interaction/ communication facilities between the players, users and the Academies through Events, News and Registration, Photos of Events. The Portal is in the last stage of Development. Design & build of the portal has been witnessed and appreciated by Dilip Sir.

Kaleidoscope: Students' Creativity SIOM MCA students are not only masters in many of the technical areas like software engineering, networking and operating system but they are equally enthusiastic in showcasing their talents by various means. He is the principle investigator of ALLOY Modeling language. Prof. Jackson discussed a new way to think about software design, where the focus is on concepts those you invent, on top of which all features, functions, and interfaces are built. He toured some well-known applications, and presented examples of good and bad design. He had shown how these examples can be explained in terms of a simple model of concepts, and described how one can improve one's own Page 3

software design skills by following some basic steps.

The symposium had also LANFest which include Android Games so that participants can relax and share play time.

The session was preceded by Accenture's Managing Director M r. A a s h i s h Deshmukh with
