Why Be a Mentor BSA Mentors: - Contribute to the support and development of their mentees and the larger campus community as a whole - Enjoy the opportunity to broaden their own contacts with staff and managers across campus - Strengthen management and advisory skills which translate to both the mentorship program and their daily roles - Have fun learning with and from their mentees Here’s what previous mentors have to say about their experience: “I can't say enough about the program. It is a tremendous resource for both the mentor and the mentee and provides a much needed service to the campus.” “Serving as a mentor has always proven to be a rewarding experience.” “To me, [the program] is succession planning in action and practice! We are helping to develop and strengthen the diverse talents and skills of our wonderful staff employees for the future.” What Does a Mentor Do - Mentors either self-nominate or are nominated by a colleague on campus - Decide to serve and kick-off the season at an informal meet-and-greet hosted by the CDC - Meet with potential mentees in a series of informational interviews and submit mentee preferences accordingly - Mentors are matched with their mentees by the CDC - Pairs mutually agree on terms for the mentorship relationship and meet for one calendar year as agreed upon on
