INDIA AND PALESTINE INKS MOU TO SETUP PALESTINE-INDO TECHNO PARK IN RAMALLAH: India and Palestine a MoU for setting up a Palestine-India Techno Park in Ramallah, Palestine. During the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee to Palestine in October last year, the announcement for setting up of park was made. The Palestinian side has made the land available for the project. 2. AFTER SIKKIM, HIMACHAL PRADESH BECOMES INDIA'S SECOND OPEN DEFECATION FREE STATE: Himachal Pradesh was declared 'Open Defecation Free', becoming India's second state to get this status after Sikkim. The newly acquired status will entitle Himachal Pradesh to receive World Bank funding under Rs 9,000 crore project to sustain sanitation campaign. 3. INDIA RANKS POORLY IN COMMONWEALTH YOUTH INDEX: India has ranked very poorly at 133 in a new Global Youth Development Index compiled by the Commonwealth Secretariat on the countries' prospects for young people in employment, education, health, civic and political spheres. India ranked 133rd in the index and the list is topped by Germany followed by Denmark), Switzerland, United Kingdom , Netherlands. 4. PUNJAB WINS NCC NATIONAL GAMES: Punjab Directorate Won the 2016 National Cadet Corp National Games. Subhash Bhamre, Minister of State for Defence, presented trophies to the winners at the closing ceremony at Delhi Cantonment. 5. ANTARCTICA'S ROSS SEA DECLARED WORLD'S LARGEST MARINE RESERVE: The Ross Sea in Antarctica will become the world's largest marine protected area. Some 1.57 million sq km of the Southern Ocean will gain protection from fishing for 35 years. 6. UNION CABINET APPROVES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NATIONAL ACADEMIC DEPOSITORY: The Union Cabinet gave its green signal for establishment and operationalisation of a National Academic Depository. The National Academic Depository aims at bringing another dimension and enhancement of the vision of Digital India. 7. JAPAN'S PRINCE MIKASA, WORLD'S OLDEST ROYAL, DIES AT 100: Japanese Prince Mikasa, uncle of Emperor Akihito, died at the age of 100. He was the oldest imperial family member in the world. Mikasa was the fifth in the line of succession to the Japanese throne Chrysanthemum a metaphorical name for the monarchy. 8. INDIA WINS ITS FIRST EVER INTERNATIONAL MEDAL IN ROLLER SKATING AT ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS:The team of Indian Roller Skaters claimed their first ever International medal in the sport. Vikram Ingale, Nikhilesh Tabhane and Dhanush Babu have won India's first ever senior international roller skating medal, by securing the bronze medal in the 3000m team relay event. 9. BANGLADESH INTRODUCES TEMPORARY BAN ON CATCHING HILSA FISH: Bangladesh has arrested more than 900 fishermen and deployed the army to patrol its waterways after introducing a temporary ban on catching hilsa fish. The ban is imposesd in an effort to save the hugely popular fish. Approximately 60 percent of the world's hilsa are caught in Bangladesh. 10. IIID TO CONDUCT 'DESIGN YATRA' IN KOZHIKODE: India's first 'Design Yatra' will be conducted in Kerala's Kozhikode city between October 2931. During design yatra competitions, heritage walk, talks and interaction with students will be conducted. The yatra is aimed at spreading awareness and taking designs to the masses and is scheduled to travel to 29 Indian cities. 11. INDIA BEAT PAKISTAN IN FINAL TO WIN ASIAN CHAMPIONS TROPHY: India celebrated Diwali by winning gold medal in the Men's Asian Champions Trophy by beating arch-rivals Pakistan in Malaysia. This is the second time India have won the title of this tournament after 2011. 12. WORLD BANK APPOINTS KRISTALINA GEORGIEVA AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE: Kristalina Georgieva, a former head of EU humanitarian affairs and vice-president of the European commission, has been appointed chief executive of the World Bank. The title of CEO is newly created, Georgieva will effectively replace Sri Mulyani Indrawati, formerly the bank's managing director and chief operating officer. 13. EASE OF DOING BUSINESS REPORT INDIA A.P., TELANGANA TOP IN 2016 ALL-INDIA RANKING: Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has released the report on State-wise Ease of Doing Business rankings. 14. VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK COMMENCES FROM TODAY (31ST OCTOBER 2016): The Central Vigilance Commission, as part of its efforts to promote probity in public life and to achieve a corruption free society, observes Vigilance Awareness Week every year. The observance of the Vigilance Awareness Week has commenced from 31st October 2016. The theme of the day is “Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating Corruption”. 15. MAHARASHTRA TOPS NITI AAYOG'S AGRI MARKETING INDEX: Maharashtra has topped in the implementation of agricultural reforms and offers the best environment for doing agri-business, according to an assessment by the Niti Aayog. Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are following maharastra in the 'Agricultural Marketing and Farm Friendly Reforms Index'. 16. NOVEMBER 1 TO BE OBSERVED AS NO TOBACCO DAY IN PUNJAB: Punjab government will observe November 1 as 'No Tobacco Day'. The day is observed to discourage tobacco use in the state.. 17. BENAMI TRANSACTIONS ACT TO CURB BLACK MONEY COMES INTO EFFECT: The new law to prohibit benami transactions will come into effect from 1st November 2016. The parliament had passed the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 to curb black money. The new legislation provides for seven years imprisonment and fine for those indulging in illegal transactions. 18. SANIA MIRZA RETAINS WORLD NUMBER ONE RANKING IN WOMEN'S DOUBLES FOR 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR: Ace Indian tennis star Sania Mirza will end the season as world's top doubles Tennis player for the second straight year. 2

19. PM NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHES 'SAUR SUJALA YOJANA' IN CHHATTISGARH: PM Narendra Modi has launched the "Saur Sujala Yojana" in Chhattisgarh. It would provide solar powered irrigation pumps to farmers at a subsidized price. Chhattisgarh would be the first state to implement the scheme. Under the scheme, solar powered irrigation pumps of 3HP and 5HP capacity worth Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh respectively would be distributed to the farmers by March 31, 2019. 20. DHONI MOST VALUED ATHLETE AMONG INDIANS ACCORDING TO FORBES FAB 40: India's cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni remains the most valued Indian athlete in 2016. The annual Forbes Fab 40 list which estimates the brand value of top sports labels, athletes, teams and events. Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer toppled the list and golf great Tiger Woods as the most valued athlete globally. Argentine football star Lionel Messi, ranked eighth. 21. SEBI TIGHTENS NORMS FOR CREDIT RATING AGENCIES: The Securities and Exchange Board of India tightened rules for credit rating agencies, prescribing more disclosures on suspension and withdrawal of ratings. The capital markets regulator also directed agencies to disclose the nature of their compensation arrangements with rated entities, including exchange of gifts. CRISIL, ICRA and CARE are the major agencies that assign credit ratings to issuers of debt instruments. 22. SUSHIL CHANDRA TAKES CHARGE AS CBDT CHIEF: Sushil Chandra took over as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes. He replaced Rani Singh Nair, who retired from service on 31st October 2016. 23. INDIA'S PALPREET SINGH INCLUDED IN 2016 NBA D-LEAGUE DRAFT: Palpreet Singh became one another Indian player to be included in NBA. Satnam Singh, who became the first Indian to be drafted into the NBA. 24. BANKS TO REPORT FRAUDS OF RS 1 CRORE AND ABOVE TO CVC: Vigilance Commission has now made it mandatory for the public sector banks to report to it all such matters involving funds over Rs one crore. The Commission will also call regular monthly meetings of senior officials of Reserve Bank of India , CBI and banks to monitor probe in suspected bank frauds of Rs 50 crore and above. 25. FINANCE MINISTRY RELEASES RS 1,093 CRORE FOR RESTORATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE IN J&K: The finance ministry released first installment of special assistance of Rs 1,093.34 crore for repair and permanent restoration of damaged public buildings in J&K. The Prime Minister Reconstruction Plan for J&K was announced by Narendra Modi on November 7, 2015, for Rs 80,068 crore for post flood relief and restoration and long-term development of the state. 26. FOOTBALL WORLD CUP TROPHY DESIGNER SILVIO GAZZANIGA DIES AT 95: Silvio Gazzaniga, the goldsmith and sculptor who designed and created football's World Cup trophy, has died at home in Milan. He was known as “Mr Cups”,.he also designed UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. Silvio Gazzaniga designed and created the World Cup trophy in 1971. FIFA World Cup trophy is 18-carat solid gold trophy weighs approximately six kilograms. 30. MAHARASTRA FIRST TO LAUNCH CYBER POLICE STATIONS IN ALL DISTRICTS: Maharashtra is the first state in the country to have a cyber police station in each district simultaneously. The state is converting 42 state-of-the-art cyber-crime labs into police stations. The state government is also setting up 51 cyber-crime labs. Notably, cyber crime in the state has increased by 142.1% in the last few years. 3

34. PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT BECOMES INTERNATIONAL LAW: The Paris Agreement officially entered into force on 4 November 2016 and decklared as international law. The agreement deals with greenhouse gases emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance. The Paris Agreement's entry into force comes a month after countries representing 55% of the world's emissions committed to joining the deal. 192 states and the European Union have signed the Agreement. 35. ANDHRA PRADESH TOPS WORLD BANK'S ENERGY-SAVING RANKINGS: In ease of doing business Andhra Pradesh ranked no. 1 from the World Bank in India in energy efficiency. Andhra Pradesh topped i followed by Rajasthan, Karnataka and Maharashtra. 3. It is operating in a highly elliptical orbit around Earth. Magnetospheric Multiscale mission is an unmanned space mission to study the Earth's magnetosphere. 6. FIRST WORLD TSUNAMI AWARENESS DAY OBSERVED ON NOVEMBER 5 2016: The First World Tsunami Awareness Day was observed on November 5, 2016. The 5th of November was designated as World Tsunami Awareness Day by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2015 to focus on education and evacuation drills. The theme of the day is “Effective Education and Evacuation Drills. 7. BUDDHA MAHOTSAVA KICKS OFF IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH: The three day Buddha Mahotsava celebration started in Arunachal Pradesh on November 4. It was organised by the District Administration of West Kameng to promote tourism in the state. The festival commemorates the life and teachings of Lord Gautama Buddha. Hundreds of Buddhist monks playing cymbals and drums are present at the festival. 8. ECONOMY LIKELY TO GROW AT 7.6 PER CENT IN 2016-17: NCAER: Economic think-tank NCAER has pegged India's GDP growth at 7.6% for 2016-17. The manufacturing sector is giving positive signals with Purchasers' Managers Index, Index of Industrial Production for core sectors. The Monetary Policy Committee has also forecasted a 7.6% growth. The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) is one of India's oldest economic think-tank set up in 1956. 9. PRESIDENT APPROVES PAYMENT OF 2% DA FROM JULY 1: President Pranab Mukherjee approved the 2% hike in Dearness Allowance to central government employees. DA is provided to employees and pensioners to minimise the impact of price rise on their earnings. Earlier this year, DA was hiked 6% to 125% of the basic pay. 14. PM TO INAUGURATE 1ST INTL AGRO-BIODIVERSITY CONGRESS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first ever International Agro-biodiversity Congress in New Delhi. The event will initiate and encourage a dialogue among stakeholders, including farmers, to better understand everyone role in agro-biodiversity management and the conservation of genetic resources. 15. UNION GOVERNMENT PUTS NDTV BAN ON HOLD: The one-day ban on NDTV's Hindi channel, widely condemned, has been put on hold by Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu. The decision comes after the Supreme Court agreed to hear NDTV's application for a stay on the ban. The Indian government ordered to ban penalty for its coverage of an attack on Indian soldiers in January. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting revealed the channel had aired strategically sensitive details during the deadly attack on the Pathankot airbase, allegedly carried out by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed group. 23. IMF APPROVES LARGEST-EVER LOAN FOR A MIDDLE EAST NATION: The International Monetary Fund has approved a three-year $12 billion loan program for Egypt, the largest such package to a Middle East nation. The loan will help in boosting Egypt's foreign currency inflows, which have dwindled since the 2011 Arab Spring uprising, and revive the African nation's economy. Egypt will receive an immediate disbursement of $2.75 billion. 2. INDIA, JAPAN SIGN LANDMARK NUCLEAR ENERGY DEAL: India on Friday signed a historic civilian nuclear deal with Japan during the annual bilateral summit held in Tokyo. India is the first non-member of the non-proliferation treaty to have signed such a deal with Japan. The nuclear deal which will help India access Japan's nuclear market, had been under negotiation for six years. 3. WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY OBSERVED ON 12TH NOVEMBER: World Pneumonia Day is observed across the world on 12 November. This decision to adopt a resolution was taken in the state legislative assembly headed by the Chief Minister Raman Singh. Union government has adopted new measures to tackle the problems faced by the people regarding the demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupees notes. Famers have been allowed to withdraw up to Rs 25,000 per week from bank account. Business entities have also been allowed to withdraw Rs 50,000 per week. BANK DEPOSITS WITH RBI HIT RECORD HIGH AFTER DEMONETISATION: In the wake of demonetization bank deposits with the Reserve Bank of India have reached a record high of Rs. 4.3 trillion, beating the earlier record of Rs. 1.7 trillion in May 2009. The RBI accepts money from various banks by offering government securities as collateral. The Indian banking system had collected deposits worth Rs. 5.12 trillion as of 18 November. 37. Tri-Netra system will help to reduce train accidents by keeping a record of the track maintenance and will also provide better visibility during foggy days. It will provides a locomotive pilot a clear view of up to one kilometre on a straight track.
